August “Gus” Carlson Back was born Oct. 11, 1918 to August and Bina Carlson Back. He died June 10, 1944 and is buried in Normandy American Cemetery, Colleville-sur-Mer, France.

Sgt. Back served in World War II with the U.S. Army 90th Signal Company, 90th Infantry Division and was KIA in Normandy, France and was awarded the Purple Heart.

Donald Parker Baedke was born Aug. 14, 1924 to Otto H. and Nellie D. Parker Baedke. He died Feb. 26. 2012 and is buried in North Lawn Cemetery, Fort Dodge, IA.

Pvt. Baedke served in World War II with the U.S. Army Central Mail Directory Army Post Office 503.

William Dennis Bailey was born Sept. 21, 1927 to John William and Mary Ellen Carpenter Bailey. He died Feb. 10, 1985 and is buried in Riverside Cemetery, Siletz, OR. Petty Officer Bailey served with the U.S. Navy in World War II.

Leonard Donald Baker was born Feb. 16, 1926 to Leonard Allen and Purney L. Wertz Baker. He died Apr. 22, 1979 and is buried in West Lawn Cemetery, Lehigh, IA.

Pvt. Baker served in World War II with the U.S. Army 47th Infantry Regiment in the European Theater and was awarded the Bronze Star.

William Dorion Baldwin was born Dec. 25, 1918 to William and Esther M. Miller Baldwin. He died Feb. 12, 1944/FOD Jan. 18, 1946. He has a cenotaph in Fort Dodge Memorial Park, Fort Dodge, IA. 

2nd Lt. Baldwin served in World War II with the U.S. Army 13th Air Corps and was KIA near Rabaul, New Britain Island as the result of an airplane crash.

Fred Thomas Barkley was born Oct. 29, 1921 to Fred Cale and Minnie Louise Johnson Barkley. He died Mar. 23, 1944 and is buried in Gowrie Township Cemetery, Gowrie, IA.

Sgt. Barkley served in World War II with the U.S. Army Air Corps 15th Air Force as a nose gunner on a B24 bomber and was KIA over Italy while serving his country.
