Gordon Keith Swygard was born Feb. 19, 1924 to Karl John and Ruth Hazel Vannice Swygard. He died Dec. 6, 1944 and in buried in Kossuth Cemetery, Mediapolis, IA.

Cpl. Swygard served in World War II with the U.S. Army Air Corps 464th Bomb Group, 778th Squadron, Heavy and was KIA near Raab, Hungary while serving his country.
