Lt. Cdr. C. W. Myers graduated from the Naval Academy at Annapolis, MD in 1922 and served several years aboard the battleship Arizona.

He resigned his commission to return to civilian life.

In Mar. 1942 to July 1944, except for 3 months in 1944 when he served on a carrier escort in the Atlantic, he was head of the executive department at the Navy Training School at Notre Dame.

In July 1944 he accepted formal command of Iowa State College Naval Training School.
