Raymond Sigurd Aasheim was born Dec. 10, 1923 to Henry and Ingrid Holland Aasheim. He died Sept. 17, 1944 and is buried in McCallsburg Cemetery, McCallsburg, IA. He was initially buried on Manila, Philippine Islands and his remains were returned to Iowa for burial in 1950.
Pvt. Aasheim served in World War II with the U.S. Marine Corps First Marines, Co. A, 1st Battalion and was KIA on Peleliu Island.
