Clair D. VanderSchaaf was born July 6, 1915 to Lubertus “Bert” and Josie DeRoos VanderSchaaf. He died May 7, 1944 and is buried in Ardennes American Cemetery, Neupre, Belgium. 

2nd Lt. VanderSchaaf served in World War II with the U.S. Army Air Corps as a Navigator with the 8th Air Force, 406th Bomber Squadron, 801st Bomber Group on B-24DSA #42-40530. He was KIA and awarded the Air Medal with 3 Oak Leaf Clusters.

Herman Gerrit VanderWilt was born Apr. 8, 1912 to Gerrit J. an Maartje DeGraaf VanderWilt. He died Oct. 30, 1944 and is buried in West Lawn Cemetery, Orange City, IA.

Pvt. VanderWilt served in World War II with the U.S. Army and died while in the service of his country.

Charles W. VanGelder was born June 8, 1923 to John and Anna De Vries VanGelder. He died July 24, 1944 and is buried in West Lawn Cemetery, Orange City, IA.

Pvt. VanGelder served in World War II with the U.S. Army Air Corps 304th Airdrome Squadron and died in New Guinea while in the service of his country.


Robert Roy VanNimwegen was born Oct. 8, 1924 to Andrew and Dorothy Nettie Hyink Van Nimwegen. He died Aug. 28, 2014 and is buried in National Memorial Cemetery of Arizona, Phoenix, AZ. 

2nd Lt. Van Nimwegen served with the U.S. Army Air Corps.

Rodney Andrew VanNimwegen was born Nov. 25, 1921 to Andrew and Dorothy Nettie VanNimwegen. He died July 23, 1943 and is buried in Nassau Township Cemetery, Alton, IA.

Lt. VanNimwegen served in World War II with the U.S. Army Air Corps and died at Gore Field, Great Falls, Montana, as the result of an aircraft accident in the line of duty.

Harold Nelson Vant Hul was born July 12, 1921 to William and Nellie Vos Vant Hul. He died Feb. 12, 1947 and is buried in Hope Cemetery Hull, Sioux County, IA. 

Coxswain Vant Hul served in World War II with the U.S. Navy aboard the USS Burns (DD-171) and USS Shea (DM-30).
