Elmer David Vanderpluym was born Aug. 25, 1918 to Albert H. and Hazel B. Dewey Vanderpluym. He died Apr. 22, 2014 and is buried in Tingley Cemetery, Tingley, IA.

Elmer served in World War II with the U.S. Army. His wife, Velma Darlene “Darlene" Turnbull Vanderpluym also served in World War II with the U.S. Army WACs. Darlene was born Mar. 15, 1923 and died Jan. 11, 2014.

Ole Gray Van Sickle was born Sept. 24, 1923 to Floyd B. and Mabel Mae Gray Van Sickle. He died Jan. 29, 2014 and is buried in Tingley Cemetery, Tingley, IA.

Petty Officer Van Sickle served with the U.S. Navy in World War II.

Omer Clay and Nina Stephens Varner Family

Alvin Levi Varner was born Oct. 5, 1919 to Omer C. and Nina Stephens Varner. He died Aug. 25, 2005 and is buried in Rose Hill Cemetery, Mount Ayr, IA.

Capt. Varner served in World War II with the U.S. Marine, Fifth Marine Division as a spotter pilot. He was awarded the Distinguished Flying Cross.

Charles Spurgeon Varner was born Feb. 13, 1909 to Omer Clay and Nina Stephens Varner. He died July 2, 1992 and is buried in Highland Memory Gardens Cemetery, Des Moines, IA.

Charles served with the U.S. Army in World War II.

Paul Lloyd Varner was born May 14, 1916 to Omer Clay and Nina Stephens Varner. He died Feb. 15, 1981 and is buried in Rose Hill Cemetery, Mount Ayr, IA.
