Martin Eugene Wood, Jr. was born Nov. 19, 1913 to Martin E. (Sr.) and Margaret Jamieson Wood. He died Feb. 17, 1998 and is buried in Sunset Memorial Gardens, Des Moines, IA.

Pvt. Wood served in World War II with the U.S. Army and was awarded the Purple Heart.

2nd Lt. Woods served in World War II with the U.S. Army Air Corps 577th Bomb Squadron, 392nd Bomb Group and was MIA on a bombing run. He was awarded the Purple Heart.

Darrel D. Woodside was born Mar. 30, 1920 to Leo Victor and Beulah Elizabeth Burrell Woodside. He died June 4, 1942 and is memorialized at the Courts of the Missing, Honolulu Memorial, Honolulu, Hawaii and in Carlisle Cemetery, Carlisle, IA.

Petty Officer Woodside served in World War II with the U.S. Navy Torpedo Squadron 8 (VT-8) which embarked from Naval Air Station Midway during the “Air Battle of Midway”, against enemy Japanese forces. Woodside and his crew did not return. He was awarded the Purple Heart, Distinguished Flying Cross and the Presidential Unit Citation for his heroic actions on June 4, 1942.

Chief Warrant Officer Woodside served in World War II with the U.S. Navy. He also served in Korea.
