William Marcus Statler, Jr. was born July 19, 1943 to William M. (Sr.) and Delia Schaar Statler. He died July 19, 1943 and is buried in Laurel Hill Cemetery, Des Moines, IA.

Lt. Statler served in World War II with the U.S. Army Air Corps 464th Bomb Squadron, 331st Bomb Group and died when his B-24E “Liberator” heavy bomber spun out, crashed and burned near Gunnison, WY. He was the navigator on that plane.

Petty Officer Statton served in World War II with the U.S. Navy aboard the USS Swordfish (SS-193) and was MIA/FOD/KIA when that ship was lost at sea, cause unknown, near Yaku Island off Kyushu, Japan. He was awarded the Purple Heart.
