Frank Benjamin Sparks was born Nov. 2, 1924 to Carl and Zelma Turner Sparks. He died July 4, 1945/FOD July 5, 1946 and is memorialized at the Tablets of the Missing, East Coast Memorial, New York, NY.

Petty Officer Sparks served in World War II with the U.S. Navy and was MIA while attached to the U.S. Naval Operating Facility, Recife, Brazil and was on temporary duty aboard the Brazilian naval cruiser, BATA. That vessel sank as the result of an internal explosion.

John Lloyd Spencer was born Aug. 28, 1922 to John S. and Hilda Estella DeVore Spencer. He died Dec, 1, 2000 and is buried in Masonic Cemetery, Des Moines, IA.

John served in World War II with the U.S. Navy Seabees.

William Franklin Spikes, Jr. was born Apr. 9, 1922 to William F. (Sr.) and Genevieve Spikes. He died July 11, 2014 and is buried in Iowa Veterans Cemetery, Adel, IA.

Cpl. Spikes served with the U.S. Army Air Corps in World War II.

Lacey D. Spriggs was born Aug. 10, 1922 to William Edward and Ruth Neil Maxfield Spriggs. He died Feb. 2, 2018 and has a cenotaph in Iowa Veterans Cemetery, Adel, IA.

Pvt. Spriggs served with the U.S. Army in World War II.

Herman Reeve Spurrier was born June 25, 1917 to William A. and Helen Reeve Spurrier. He died Apr. 18, 1945 (FOD) and is memorialized at the Tablets of the Missing, Henri-Chapelle American Cemetery, Hombourg, Belgium. 

2nd Lt. Spurrier served in World War II with the U.S. Army Air Corps as a Navigator with the 366th Bomber Squadron, 305th Bomber Group, Heavy on #43-38085 “Towering Titan”. He became MIA and was awarded the Air Medal and Purple Heart.
