Pvt. Sample served in World War II with the U.S. Army 28th Infantry, 8th Division and was KIA in France.

Otto Peter Sampson was born Apr. 8, 1900 to Albert Oscar and Inger Jorgena Saervold Sampson. He died Apr. 18, 1944.

Otto served in World War II with the U.S. Navy.

Norman Wesley Sandler was born Dec. 20, 1919 to Nate and Belle Klimosky Sandler. He died Feb. 25, 1945 and is buried in Jewish Glendale Cemetery, Des Moines, IA.

Lt. Sandler served in World War II with the U.S. Navy aboard the USS Randolph (CV-15) and was MIA/FOD/KIA as the pilot of a fighter plane which crashed after a raid on an airfield in Japan.

Donald Jackson “Jack” Sandy was born Jan. 20, 1926 to Samuel M. and Merle D. Pickering Sandy. He died May 7, 1945 and is buried in IOOF Cemetery, Indianola, IA. He was initially buried in the 1st Marine Division Cemetery on Okinawa and returned to the U.S. in 1949.

Pvt. Sandy served in World War II with the U.S. Marine Corps 1st Marines, 1st Marine Division and was KIA in combat operations on Okinawa, Ryukyu Islands. He was awarded the Navy Cross.

Ben Burnett Sanford was born Aug. 15, 1917 to Wilford and Nellie Temple Sanford. He died Nov. 8, 1942 and is buried in North Africa American Cemetery, Tunis, Tunisia.

Cpl. Sanford served in World War II with the 6th Infantry Battalion, 1st Armored Division. He was awarded the Purple Heart.

Warren Bert Sargent was born Oct. 11, 1916 to Albert E. and Opal L. Mason Sargent. He died Jan. 9, 2007.

Capt. Sargent served in World War II with the U.S. Army 43rd Engineers.

Specialist ‘A' 1st Class Savage served with the U.S. Navy in World War II. He was married to Ruth Arlene Chase [WAVE].
