Verlin/Verlan Arthur McAninch was born De. 16, 1925 to Forrest Delmar and Ruth M. McAninch. He died May 4, 1945 and is memorialized at the Courts of the Missing, Court 1, Honolulu Memorial, Honolulu, Hawaii.

Petty Officer McAninch served in World War II with the U.S. Navy aboard the USS Luce (DD-522) and was MIA/FOD/KIA when that ship was attacked by kamikaze planes and sank off Kerama Retto, Okinawa.

Sgt, McCarty served in World War II with the U.S. Army Air Corps 572nd Bomb Squadron, 391st Bomb Group, Medium and died in Germany while in the service of his country. He was awarded the Air Medal with 11 Oak Leaf Clusters.
