Don Armstrong was born Feb. 21, 1915 to John Hall and Mae Eva Crider Armstrong. He died July 11, 1943 and has a cenotaph in Masonic Cemetery, Des Moines, IA and is memorialized at the Tablets of the Missing, Sicily-Rome American Cemetery, Nettuno, Italy.

Capt. Armstrong served in World War II with the U.S. Army Air Corps 45th Squadron, 316th Troop Carrier Group. He was awarded the Air Medal and Purple Heart.
