Francis Leroy Rausch was born Feb. 7, 1921 to Valentine Nickols and Elizabeth “Lizzie" Kohn Rausch. He died May 1, 1945 and is buried in Waterman Cemetery, Sutherland, IA.

Pvt. Rausch served in World War II with the U.S. Army, Hodgen’s 1st Army, 1st Division, 16th Infantry and was KIA in Czechoslovakia.
