James Edward Hewitt was born Apr. 25, 1915 to Edward Gates and Eliza Maude Livingston Hewitt. He died Aug. 15, 1945 and is memorialized at the Courts of the Missing, Court 7, Honolulu Memorial, Honolulu, Hawaii.

1st Lt. Hewitt served in World War II with the U.S. Army Ari Corps 28th Bomber Squadron, 19th Bomber Group, Very Heavy and was MIA and became a Japanese POW. He was awarded the Air Medal and Purple Heart.
