Marvin Leroy Geerdes was born Aug. 14, 1922 to Ralph J. and Martha Groen Geerdes. He died Feb. 2, 1945 and is buried in Ardennes American Cemetery, Neupre, Belgium.

Sgt. Geerdes served in World War II with the U.S. Army 18th Infantry Regiment, 1st Infantry Division and died in the service of his country. He was awarded the Purple Heart.
