William Lee Valasek was born June 15, 1920 to Tony J. and Apolena Smysik Valasek. He died Sept. 26, 2003 and is buried in Osage Cemetery, Osage, IA.

Cpl. Valasek served in World War II with the U.S. Army Air Corps and was stationed in the Burma-India-China Theater. His plane was shot down over Japan.
