Harold L. Shaver was born Nov. 29, 1924 to Noran R. and Myrl Herndon Shaver. He died Feb. 24, 1945 and is buried in Melbourne Memorial Garden, Melbourne, IA. He was initially buried in the 4th Marine Division Cemetery on Saipan and returned to the U.S. in 1949.

Pvt. Shaver served in World War II with the U.S. Marine Corps K Company, 3rd Battalion, 25th Marines, 4th Marine Division and participated in combat operations until wounded in action on Saipan. He was evacuated to a USN Hospital on Saipan where he died of his wounds.

Eugene Matthew Stegmann was born Sept. 3, 1921 to Sylvester Michael and Kazel Kendall Stegmann. He died July 28, 1945 and is memorialized at the Courts of the Missing, Court 2, Honolulu Memorial, Honolulu, IA.

Ensign Stegmann served in World War II with the U.S. Naval Air Corps Scouting Squadron 66 and died in the service of his country in a plane crash, not related to enemy action. He was awarded the Air Medal.
