Charles William Walker was born Apr. 16, 1921 to Albert David and Sylvia Jennings Walker. He died Dec. 17, 1940 and is buried in Russell Cemetery, Russell, IA.

Charles served in World War II with the U.S. Navy.

Dean Emerson Wells was born Aug. 24, 1915 to Orlan Samuel and Mabel Jewell Byers Wells. He died Jan. 4, 2004 and is buried in Riverside National Cemetery, Riverside, CA.

Petty Officer Wells served in World War II with the U.S. Navy.

Vernon S. Wells was born Oct. 7, 1917 to Orlan Samuel and Mabel Jewell Byers Wells. He died Nov. 27, 1943 and is buried in Chariton Cemetery, Chariton, IA. He was initially buried in USAF Cemetery, Buariki Island, Tarawa Atoll and returned to the U.S. in 1947.

Sgt. Wells served in World War II with the U.S. Marine Corps 6th Marines, 2nd Marine Division and was KIA in combat operations on Bariki Island, Tarawa.

Gordon Heising Werts was born Oct. 17, 1921 to Walter Guy and Dessa Frances Putman Werts. He died July 18, 1944 and has a cenotaph in Russell Cemetery, Russell, IA.

Lt. Werts served in World War II with the U.S. Navy Air Corps and later transferred to the Marine Corps. He was MIA/FOD/KIA in the Pacific area.

Edward Arthur Wilds was born Sept. 7, 1920 to John A. and Mary Wilds. He died Nov. 10, 1942 and is memorialized at the Walls of the Missing, Manila American Cemetery, Taguig City, Philippines. Initially buried on Guadalcanal, his remains were not recovered until after WWII.

Pvt. Wilds served in World War II with the U.S. Marine Corps and was MIA/KIA on Guadalcanal while participating in combat operations. He was awarded the Purple Heart.
