Kenneth Howard Haines was born Oct. 11, 1925 to Alva Glen and Zella Ruth Howard Haines. He died Mar. 20, 1945 and is buried in Norwood Cemetery, Norwood, IA.

Pvt. Haines served in World War II with the U.S. Army and was KIA in Germany.

James Edward “Jim” Hamilton was born Mar. 19, 1916 to John Lewis and Frances Maude Hamilton. He died Nov. 1, 2019. “Jim” Hamilton is buried in Iowa Veterans Cemetery, Adel, IA.

Jim served in World War II with the U.S. Army Air Corps as a B-17 pilot with the 95th Bomb Group. He flew 39 missions over enemy territory.

Arlie Lester “Shovel” Hanks was born Mary 31, 1901 to William Anderson and Laura Ada Sturtz Hanks. He died Nov. 12, 1942 and is memorialized at the Tablets of the Missing, North Africa American Cemetery, Tunis, Tunisia and has a cenotaph in Russell Cemetery, Russell, IA.

Petty Officer Hanks served in World War II with the U.S. Navy aboard the USS Edward Rutledge (AP-52) which was sunk by torpedoes in the invasion of North Africa. He was awarded the Purple Heart.
