John Edward Coakley was born Jan. 11, 1920 to Timothy Patrick and Ruth May Wagner Coakley. He died Apr. 7, 1944 and is memorialized at the Courts of the Missing, Court 5, Honolulu Memorial, Honolulu, Hawaii and has a cenotaph in Keokuk National Cemetery, Keokuk, IA.

Petty Officer Coakley served in World War II with the U.S. Navy aboard the USS Trout (SS-202) which was sunk by Japanese naval forces near the Philippines. He was MIA/FOD/KIA and was awarded the Purple Heart.

Ralph James Coffman was born Sept. 5, 1924 to Vernon W. and Grace Waneraus Coffman. He died Feb. 16, 2002 in Cedar Rapids, IA.

Ralph served in World War II with the U.S. Navy aboard the USS Shipley Bay (CVE-85).

Jack Stephen Collins was born Feb. 6, 1917 to Stephen Walker and Adeline Briggs Collins. He died Jan. 30, 1978 and is buried in Oak Shade Cemetery, Marion, IA.

Jack served in World War II with the U.S. Navy.

Sydney Paul Comley was born about 1906 to Sydney J. and Maude E. Hugh Comley. He died Dec. 15, 1945 and is memorialized at the Walls of the Missing, Manila American Cemetery, Taguig City, Philippines.

Petty Officer Comley served in World War II with the U.S. Navy aboard the USS Pecos (AO-6) which was sunk by Japanese aircraft south of Java on Mar. 1, 1942. He was awarded the Purple Heart.

Orland L. Conaway, Jr. was born July 4, 1921 to Orland L. (Sr.) and Martha Malinda Baker Conaway. He died Apr. 15, 1945 and is buried in Cedar Memorial Park, Cedar Rapids, IA.

Sgt. Conaway served in World War II with the U.S. Army 473rd Infantry Regiment.

Gerald Paul Connor was born Jan. 22, 1917 to Patrick Joseph and Sarah Ellen McCune Connor. He died Oct. 1, 1947 and is buried in Mount Calvary Cemetery, Cedar Rapids, IA.

Petty Officer Connor served with the U.S. Navy in World War II.

Roy Jewell Cook was born Mar, 3, 1917 to Alva and Flora Ellen Merle Cook. He died June 6, 1944 and is buried in Normandy American Cemetery, Colleville-Sur-Mer, France.

Sgt. Cook served in World War II with the U.S. Army 81st Chemical Battalion and was KIA on D-Day when an enemy artillery shell pierced the starboard side of his landing craft amidship before it reached shore. The LCT drifted in the Channel until the current brought it into Omaha Beach around 10:30 a.m. He was awarded the Purple Heart.

Allen Alva “Al” Coombs was born July 30, 1920 to Frank M. and Vina B. Duden Coombs. He died Nov. 9, 2001 and is buried in Cedar Memorial Park, Cedar Rapids, IA.

Al served in World War II with the U.S. Army Infantry, 33rd Division and was held as a POW in Italy.

Floyd Leroy Covington was born Feb. 12, 1922 to Roy L. and Leona May Gage Covington. He died Jan. 7, 1990 and is buried in Mount Clark Cemetery, Central City, IA. 

Petty Officer Covington served in World War II with the U.S. Navy aboard the USS Braxton (APA-138).
