Edmund Jean Foulkes was born Dec. 14, 1910 to Edmund Sparing and Julia Jean Erb Foulkes. He died Apr. 14, 1981 and is buried in Keokuk National Cemetery, Keokuk, IA.

Sgt. Foulkes served with the U.S. Army in World War II.

Leslie Lamar “Les” Fowler, Jr. was born May 25, 1924 to Leslie Lamar (Sr.) and Susie Blair Fowler. He died Aug. 28, 2012 and is buried in Keokuk National Cemetery, Keokuk, IA.

1st Lt. Fowler served in World War II with the U.S. Army 104th Infantry Division, Timberwolves, received a battlefield commission and was awarded the Bronze Star. He was part of the Army Specialized Training Program and fought in France, Belgium, the Netherlands and Germany.
