Aviation Cadet Smith served in World War II with the U.S. Army Air Corps.

Russell LaVerne Steenhoek was born No. 10, 1923 to William M. and Ann Herr Steenhoek. He died May 4, 1945, was buried at sea, and is memorialized at the Courts of the Missing, Honolulu Memorial, Honolulu, Hawaii.

Petty Officer Steenhoek served in World War II with the U.S. Navy aboard the USS Birmingham (CL-62) and was MIA/KIA in a kamikaze attack off the coast of Okinawa. He was awarded the Purple Heart and Asiatic Pacific Campaign Medal with Star.
