Robert L. Gamrath was born July 25, 1919 to Carl Lawrence and Mabel Moburg Gamrath. He died Feb. 11, 2014 and is buried in Evergreen Cemetery, Fairfield, IA.

Brig. Gen. Gamrath served with the U.S. Army for 29 years, including duty in World War II. He was the state’s senior troop commandeer with the Iowa National Guard when he retired in 1969.
