Alvin Joseph Schulte was born Sept. 15, 1915 to Joseph H. and Susan Anna Loewen Schulte. He died June 11, 1943 and is memorialized at the Walls of the Missing, Manila American Cemetery, Taguig City, Philippines.

Sgt. Schulte served in World War II with the 531st Bomb Squadron, 380th Bomb Group, Heavy and was MIA and awarded the Silver Star and Purple Heart.

Harold Audley Simmons was born Aug. 11, 1923 to Burr and Ida Kathryn Behrens Simmons. He died May 14, 1945 and is buried in Preston Cemetery, Preston, IA. He was initially buried in 1st Marine Division Cemetery Okinawa and returned to the U.S. in 1949.

Pvt. Simmons served in World War II with the U.S. Marine Corps C Company, 1st Battalion, 1st Marines, 1st Marine Division and participated in combat operations until KIA in Okinawa.

Kenneth J. Smith was born Jan. 8, 1921 to Albert H. and Elsie Catherine Norton Smith. He died June 19, 1944 and is buried in Sacred Heart Cemetery, Maquoketa, IA. He was initially buried in 2nd Marine Division Cemetery on Saipan and returned to the U.S. in 1948.

Lt. Smith served in World War II with the U.S. Marine Corps and participated in combat operation on Saipan until KIA.

Max R. Smithson was born Dec. 26, 1914 to George Oliver and Alberta Sophia Marie Mangler Smithson. He died Dec. 6, 1947 and is buried in Reeseville Cemetery, Green Island, IA.

Pvt. Smithson served in World War II with the U.S. Army Headquarters Company, 34th Infantry Division.

Thomas Byron Stuart was born July 26, 1917 to Charles H. and Marie Stuart. He died Aug. 20, 1946 and is buried in First Presbyterian Cemetery, Bellevue, IA.

Chief Petty Officer Stuart served in World War II with the U.S. Navy.
