Donald Eugene Reed was born Aug. 8, 1923 to Milo and Athlyne Osborn Reed. He died May 9, 1996 and is buried in Rose Hill Memorial Gardens, Missouri Valley, IA.

Sgt. Reed served with the U.S. Army in World War II.

Roy Edward Rhoten was born Nov. 3, 1926 to William Edward and Olive Mildred Fox Rhoten. He died July 30, 1945 and is memorialized at the Walls of the Missing, Manila American Cemetery, Taguig City, Philippines and has a cenotaph in Magnolia Cemetery, Magnolia, IA.

Petty Officer Rhoten served in World War II with the U.S. Navy aboard the USS Indianapolis (CA-35) when it was sunk by a Japanese submarine. He was MIA/FOD/KIA and awarded the Purple Heart.

William Louis Ripley was born Apr. 3, 1917 to Louis E. and Viola Bell Carter Ripley. He died Sept. 27, 1946 and is buried in Farragut Cemetery, Farragut, IA.

Maj. Ripley served in World War II with the U.S. Army Air Corps and died while on a routine training mission over the Gulf of Mexico. He was the pilot, learning how to do water landings.
