Arnold Herman Buns was born Nov. 28, 1919 to John and Bertha Sophia Baack Buns. He died Feb. 28, 1942/FOD Dec. 15, 1945 and is memorialized at the Walls of the Missing, Manila American Cemetery, Taguig City, Philippines and in Bingham Township Cemetery, Woden, IA.

Petty Officer Buns served in World War II with the U.S. Navy aboard the USS Houston and was MIA/KIA when that ship was sunk by enemy action. He was awarded the Purple Heart.
