Vandan A. Nicholas was born Mar. 24, 1916 to Abijah J. and Mamie J. Hiddleson Nicholas. He died July 13, 1944 and is memorialized at the Tablets of the Missing, Normandy American Cemetery, Colleville-sur-Mer, France and has a cenotaph in Rippey Cemetery, Rippey, IA.

Sgt. Nicholas served in World War II with the U.S. Army 899th Tank Destroyer Battalion and was MIA?KIA near St. Lo, France as the commander of an M-10 tank destroyer engaged in supporting an infantry battalion. He was awarded the Purple Heart.

John Hart Nicholson was born Dec. 28, 1923 to Ned John and Marcia Hart Nicholson. He died June 23, 1948 and is buried in Scranton Township Cemetery, Scranton, IA.

Ens. Nicholson served in World War II with the U.S. Navy.

Warren Keith Noel was born Aug. 24, 1922 to Walter P. and Nellie Stream Noel. He died June 6, 1945 and is buried in Highland Township Cemetery, Churdan, IA.

Petty Officer Noel served in World War II with the U.S. Navy and died as the result of injuries received in an accident while in the service of his country.
