Richard Elmont “Dick” Sandage, Sr. was born Dec. 2, 1920 to Joseph Oliver and Ruth Mathilda Barada Sandage. He died Aug. 22, 2009 and is buried in Rock Grove Township Cemetery, Nora Springs, IA.

Dick served in World War II with the U.S. Navy aboard the USS Biscayne (AVP-11) in both the Atlantic and Pacific theaters, participating in the invasions of North Africa, France, Sicily, Anzio, Iwo Jima, Okinawa and the occupation of the Philippines,

Malcolm Stuart Sanders was born Dec. 29, 1917 to Arnie M. and Velma H. Schultz Sanders. He died Nov. 16, 1944 and is memorialized at the Walls of the Missing, Manila American Cemetery, Taguig City, Philippines and in Medina Cemetery, Marshall, WI.

1st Lt. Sanders served in World War II with the U.S. Army Air Corps 374th Bomber Squadron, 308th Bomb Group and was MIA in the South China Sea. He was awarded the Distinguished Flying Cross, Air Medal and Purple Heart.
