Clarence Arthur Peterson was born Nov. 27, 1922 to Gus Augustine and Emma Schultz Peterson. He was MIA Aug. 28, 1945/FOD Nov. 1, 1946 and is memorialized at the Walls of the Missing, Manila American Cemetery, Taguig City, Philippines and has a cenotaph in Oak Hill Cemetery, Estherville, IA.

Sgt. Peterson served in World War II with the U.S. Army Headquarters Company, Service Command ā€œCā€ and was MIA/KIA aboard the USS Rockingham (APA-229) but never debarked at Otaru, Japan. He had served at New Caledonia and was transferred to the Philippines and was scheduled to to to Japan at the time he was reported missing.
