Merle LaVerne Van Sant was born Dec. Dec. 15, 1907 to Frank and Minnie Scheible Van Sant. He died Sept. 17, 1943 and is buried in Clinton Lawn Cemetery, Clinton, IA.
Petty Officer Van Sant served with the U.S. Navy and died as the result of an explosion in Norfolk, VA while in the service of his country.
