Verle Stanley Howard Sargent was born Sept. 12, 1918 to Harford Granville and Nellie Booth Jewett Sargent. He died Dec. 5, 1942 and is Manila American Cemetery, Taguig City, Philippines and has a cenotaph in Strawberry Point Cemetery, Strawberry Point, IA.

Sgt. Sargent served in World War II with the U.S. Army 126th Infantry Regiment, 32nd Infantry Division and was KIA in New Guinea and awarded the Purple Heart.
