Edwin Robert “Ed” Keffer was born Dec. 7, 1913 to John Pearl and Lottie Wheeler Keffer. He died Sept. 13, 1996 and is buried in Evergreen Cemetery, Vinton, IA.

Sgt. Keffer served in World War II with the U.S. Army 168th Infantry “Red Bull” Division in Tunisia, Algeria and Italy and was awarded three Bronze Stars and a Purple Heart.

Marion Paul Keffer was born Oct. 21, 1921 to John Pearl and Lottie Wheeler Keffer. He died Nov. 30, 2011 and is buried in Murdoch-Linwood Cemetery, Cedar Rapids, IA.

Marion served in World War II with the U.S. Army 168th Infantry and became a POW of the Germans for 27 months. He was awarded the American Defense Service Ribbon, Combat Infantry Badge and three Bronze Stars.

Col. Kelso served in World War II with the U.S. Army Air Corps as a command pilot with over 5000 flying hours, of which over 500 hours were in China/Burma/India—flying the Hump (over the Himalayas). He also served 2 tours of duty at the Pentagon and concluded his service at Robins Air Force Base, GA, where he was Chief of Service Engineering, and Director of Maintenance at the Warner Robins Air Material Area. His awards and decorations include 2 Legion of Merits, the Distinguished Flying Cross, 2 Air Medals and 2 Commendation Medals.
