Walter Brodie was born Apr, 5, 1917 to James Gladstone and Anna Schnieder Brodie. He died May 8, 1943 and is memorialized at the Walls of the Missing, Manila American Cemetery, Taguig City, Philippines.

Petty Officer Brodie served in World War II with the U.S. Navy aboard the USS Sims (DD-409) and was MIA/KIA in the Battle of the Coral Sea. He was awarded the Purple Heart.

Ross Darwin Burd was born Feb. 19, 1921 to Cecil Rex and Blanche C. Burd. He died Oct. 13, 1943 and is memorialized at the Walls of the Missing, Manila American Cemetery, Taguig City, Philippines and at Bethany Lutheran Cemetery, Kimballton, IA.

Sgt. Burd served in World War II with the U.S. Army Air Corps 403rd Bomber Squadron, 43rd Bomber Group, Heavy and was MIA/FOD/KIA on a mission to bomb the Japanese at Rabul as part of an Army Air Corps flight known as “The Mareeba Butchers”. He was awarded the Purple Heart and Air Medal.
