Donald Hager Rutt was born June 24, 1915 to Earl J. and Edith Grace Hager Rutt. He died Jan. 3, 1943 and has a cenotaph in Oakwood Cemetery, Adair County, IA and memorialized at the Tablets of the Missing, Brittany American Cemetery, Montjoie Saint Martin, France.
Donald served in World War II with the U.S. Army Air Corps 427th Bomb Squadron, 303rd Bomb Group, Heavy and was MIA/KIA as a crew member of an airplane which failed to return from a combat mission over Saint Nazaire, France. He was awarded the Air Medal and Purple Heart.
