Private Vernell Gunderson, stationed at Fort Leavenworth, Kansas, has arrived to spend a 10-day furlough at the home of his parents, Mr. and Mrs. W. L. Gunderson, 814 27th Street. On December 1, Private Gunderson will be transferred to Fitzsimmons general hospital in Denver to receive instruction in specialized surgery.

Capt. Ernest A. Jenkinson, 3d officer in charge of the Central Staff at the Charlotte quartermaster depot, Charlotte, North Carolina has been promoted in rank from first lieutenant. Capt. Jenkinson is the son of Mrs. E. A. Jenkinson, 2930 Nebraska Street.

Walter B. Metcalf, son of Mr. and Mrs. Walter U. Metcalf, 4403 Third Avenue, Sioux City, has been enlisted at the Kansas City naval aviation cadet selection board as an apprentice seaman, V-5, in the naval reserve.

Lieut. Patton E. Northrup, Jr. 3312 Nebraska Street, has received his commission as second lieutenant after having completed the course for officer candidates at Camp Lee, Virginia.

Private Dorothy E. Cozart, 3208 Parkview Avenue has completed basic training at the First women’s air corps training center, Fort Des Moines, Iowa. She will receive additional training in a special field preparatory to taking over a behind-the-line job, releasing a soldier for combat duty.

Miss Marian Louise Anderson, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Joe Anderson, 1120 23d Street has completed her basic training and indoctrination course at the naval training school for Waves. The Bronx, New York and is proceeding to the naval hospital, Oakland, California.

Eugene John Henry Summers, son of Ira Summers, 413 S. Wall Street, seaman first class attached to the naval armed guard center, New Orleans, La., has returned from sea duty as a member of a naval gun crew assigned to an American merchant vessel. During his time at sea he visited South America and African ports.

Ira Paul Schwarz, 1425 Morningside Avenue, with the United States Naval operating base, Londonderry, North Ireland, has been advanced to musician first class, reports the navy department public relations office, Des Moines.

Lucille Lillie, Wave yeoman second class, has returned to Washington, after spending a few days in the home of her mother, Mrs. Ina Lillie, 2709 First Street.
Sergeant Lambert R. Brostrom, A. E. G., son of Mr. and Mrs. A. R. Brostrom, 1300 S. Glass Street, has completed training at the Kearney, Nebraska air base.
Aviation Student Nealand V. Whalen has arrived at Black Hills Teachers College for a course of army air force instruction. He is a son of Mrs. Paul Clayton, 511 Ross Street.
Aviation Student Robert E. Traudt has completed the first phase of aviation training at Utah State Agricultural college, Logan, Utah. He is the son of Mr. and Mrs. A. C. Traudt, 3902 Stone Avenue.
Private James Lyman, son of Mr. and Mrs. Guy W. Lyman, 1414 McDonald Street, stationed at the parachute school at Fort Benning, Georgia, made his fifth and qualifying jump recently. He has earned the right wear the wings and boots of the paratrooper.
Corporal Hugo Pearson, stationed at Fort Lewis, Washington, is spending a furlough with his wife and parents, Mr. and Mrs. L. Pearson, 4606 Perry Creek Road. He is with the radio intelligence department.
Staff Sergeant Vincent S. Burke and wife of St. Joseph, Missouri, are spending a furlough with his parents, Mr. and Mrs. J. M. Burke, 2601 Cecelia Street. Sergeant Burke is a member of the air corps.
Private Clinton A. DeWitt, stationed with the army air forces at Drew field, Tampa, Florida is spending a furlough in the home of his mother, Mrs. Marie DeWitt, 2212 S. Patterson Street.
Corporal Raymond L. Cooper, stationed at Fort Bliss, Texas, is spending a short furlough in the home of his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Ray Cooper, 460 Leonard Street.
Glen C. Davis, son of Mr. and Mrs. Fred Davis, 921 S. Fairmount Street, has been transferred from Camp Wright to Camp Adair, Oregon and promoted to private first class.
Corporal Beryl P. Cummings, son of Mr. and Mrs. G. w. Cummings, 4514 Country Club Boulevard, is spending a furlough with his parents. He is stationed at Fort Bliss, Texas.
Corporal John A, Lyle, son of Mr. and Mrs. Henry E. Lyle, 2531 S. Alice Street, is spending a furlough in the home of his parents. He is stationed with the air corps at Lawson field, Fort Benning, Georgia.
Margaret Ann Yule, seaman second class, with the naval reserve, recently spent a leave with her sister, Mrs. Jean Hufstedler, 1961 S. St. Aubin Street, and her grandmother, Mrs. R. J. Anderson, Moville. Seaman Yule was the first women to join the waves from Woodbury County in 1942. She is stationed at the navy department bureau of supplies and accounts in Cleveland, Ohio. She was accompanied by her sister, Miss Pauline Yule, also of Cleveland.

Lieut. Frank W. Oliver, 23, son Judge Ralph Oliver, 4118 Perry Way, is home on furlough from a paratrooper’s course at Camp Mackall, South Carolina.
Private First Class Glenn Thompson, accompanied by his wife, has arrived to spend a furlough in the home of his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Emes Thompson, 2806 Second Street, and the home of his wife’s parents, Mr. and Mrs. Chris Tanberg, 1200 Court Street. He is a cook in the quartermaster corps at Fort Francis E. Warren, Wyoming. Mrs. Thompson will remain in Sioux City.
Private First Class Clarence Glissman, stationed at Camp Adair, Oregon, has been transferred to Camp Hyder, Arizona, after spending a furlough with his wife, daughter and sister at 308 W. 15th Street, and his mother, Mrs. Irene Ehrich, and a sister at 1507 Hamilton Street.
Aviation Cadet Frank James O’Rourke, son of F. J. O’Rourke, 2108 S. St. Aubin Street, has arrived at the Missouri institute of aeronautics near Sikeston, Missouri for primary flight training.
John L. Briedenbach has informed his parents, Mr. and Mrs. John F. Breidenbach, 2019 Pierce Street, of his promotion to pharmacist’s mate second class. He has served on a hospital ship in both the Atlantic and Pacific and for the last nine months has been with an aircraft service unit in the southwest Pacific.
Private Joseph T. Dubel, son of Mrs. Mary E. Dubel, 1811 Douglas Street, has completed a special purpose motor vehicle course at Chanute field, Illinois.
Seaman Second Class Joe Sabasta, who received his training at the naval station at Farragut, Idaho, is spending a leave with his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Jim Sabasta, 705 S. Linn Street, and his sister, Mrs. Frank Bulizak.
Jack M. Downing, son of Mr. and Mrs. M. L. Downing, formerly of Sioux City and now of Oakland, California, has been awarded the Purple Heart for wounds received during the attack on Pearl Harbor December 7, 1941. He is now taking an officer’s training course at San Diego, California.
Fred T. Hollmer, Jr., seaman second class, has been transferred from Farragut, Idaho, to the naval training station at Iowa State College, Ames, Iowa. He is the son of Mr. and Mrs. F. T. Hollmer, formerly of Sioux City, now of Seattle, Washington.
Donald T. Scott, navy mail specialist second class, is spending a leave with his wife and parents, Mr. and Mrs. Frank E. Scott, 3715 Fourth Avenue. He is stationed in Davisville, Rhode Island.
Corporal Ted Patterson, formerly of Pierson, Iowa is spending a furlough with his mother, Mrs. Pearl Patterson, 1324 Jennings Street. He has also spent some time with his brother of Ponca, Nebraska. Corporal Patterson is stationed with the army infantry at Camp Pine, New York.
Ray Winslow, second class petty officer, is spending a five-day leave in the home of his parents, Mr. and Mrs. N. S. Shaw, 908 Iowa Street. His sister, Mrs. F. E. Streeter, Portland, Oregon and his niece, Mrs. Vernon Kee, Omaha, Nebraska, have also arrived to visit him. He is stationed at the Samson, New York, base.
Private Wilton F. Baumann is stationed in the British Isles. He is a son of Mr. and Mrs. E. W. Baumann, 1112 S. Newton Street.

Private First Class Robert D. Lester is spending a 10-day furlough at the home of his parents, Mr. and Mrs. William A Lester, 2410 Myrtle Street. He has just completed a special course in aircraft mechanics at the Douglas Aircraft company, Santa Monica, California and at the end of his furlough will go to Tampa, Florida to be assigned to a bomber squadron.
Private Francis H. Foley, stationed at Camp White Oregon, is spending a 15-day furlough with his parents, Mr. and Mrs Hugh T. Foley, 1715 Lakeport Road, and his sister, Mrs. Arthur Jones, 1715 S. Clinton Street. On his return Private Foley will enroll in radio school. A brother, Private First Class John F. Foley is stationed at Camp Granite, California. Another brother, Leo T. Foley, was killed in the African campaign in April.
Staff Sergeant Frank A. Bucchino has cabled his wife, residing at 1608 Eighth Street, of his safe arrival overseas somewhere in the South Pacific.
Robert LeRoy Goodwin, third class signalman, returned to Brooklyn navy yards Friday night for sea duty after spending a 10-day leave with his parents, Mr. and Mrs. B. F. Goodman, 704 Plymouth Street.
Sergeant Robert C. Farb, chief radio operator of a heavy bombing processing unit at the Lincoln, Nebraska, air base, arrived Sunday evening for a 15-day furlough with his parents, Mr. and Mrs. O.M. Farb, 1308 S. Alice Street.
Dr. David Kaplan has informed his wife, Mrs. Esther Kaplan and daughter, 2621 Jones Street, of his promotion to captain somewhere in North Africa.
Sergeant James B, Cabbell, son of Mrs. S. Cabbell, 1217 McDonald Street, will arrive home soon on furlough, part of which has been spent with his sisters in Topeka, Kansas. Sergeant Cabbell s stationed at Bakersfield, California.

Robert E. Lechtenberg of Sioux City has been placed on the honor roll of the St. Mary’s College, California, preflight school in recognition of his scholastic excellence during his first six weeks of training. To be eligible for the honor, Cadet Lechtenberg had to maintain an average of 3.4 or better out of a possible 4 during the first half of his training period.
Arthur Martin Colvin, first class petty officer in the signal corps, is spending a 20-day leave with his mother, Mrs. Muriel Colvin, 210 24th Street. He has seen active duty in Italy, Sicily, Malta and Africa.
Darol M. Rich, son of Mr. and Mrs. Glenn Rich, 1322 S. Cornelia Street, is a recent graduate from the army air force flexible gunnery school at Tyndall field, Panama City, Florida and has been awarded his silver wings.
Charles A. Okey, U. S. N. R. has returned to State Teachers College, Minot, North Dakota after spending a leave in Sioux City with his parents, Mr. and Mrs. C. W. Okey, 3818 Fourth Avenue. His brother, Aviation Cadet Carey B. Okey has completed preflight training at Santa Ana, California and has been sent to Ryan field, Tucson, Arizona for primary flight training. Another brother, Aviation Student James D. Okey, has been transferred from basic training at Kessler field, Mississippi to precadet training at Michigan State College, East Lansing, Michigan.
Private Ruth L. Wilkins, women’s marine corps, stationed at Cherry Point, North Carolina, is spending a 10-day leave in the home of her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Harry Wilkins, 210 S. Fowler Street.
Private Fred Randall is receiving basic training at Fort Knox, Kentucky. His wife and stepsons reside at 2504 Chicago Avenue.
David Clair Black, coxswain, is spending a 14-day leave with friends and relatives. A participant in the invasion of Sicily, he will report back to South Brooklyn armed guard center. He is the son of Mrs. Ada Black, 2110 Geneva Street.
Jack Norton, seaman first class, has returned from the south Pacific and is spending a 12-day leave in the home of his parents, Mr. and Mrs. G. R. Norton, 1600 W. Second Street. This is the first leave in eight months.
Private First Class Duncan M. Harper, son of Mr. and Mrs. H. C. Harper, 1901George Street, has been transferred from Shepard field, Texas to the Lockheed-Vega service school at Burbank, California where he will be given courses pertaining to the P-38. He has also had special instruction at Love field, Dallas, Texas.
Earle Dean Bates, son of Mr. and Mrs. C. F Bates, 1407 W. Fifth Street, has returned to Camp Waldron, Farragut, Idaho, after spending a furlough with his parents.
Corporal Harold W. Blade recently spent part of his furlough with his mother, Mrs. Amanda Blade, 2523 Silver Street and two sisters. The other part of his furlough was spent with his father in Berkeley, California. He is stationed with a medical unit at Camp Adair, Oregon.
Emmet D. Fenton, son of Mr. and Mrs. W. A. Fenton, 424 Dakota Avenue recently completed his basic training at Gardner field, California. He will be sent to an advanced flying school to continue his training.
Corporal Charles W. Zaleckis has arrived safely in England according to word received by his wife, who resides at 509 14th Street. He was formerly stationed at the Sioux City air base.
Private First Class Alwin N. Olstad, son of Mrs. O. Olstad, 1118 22nd Street, is spending a 15-day furlough with his mother. He is stationed at Camp Polk, Louisiana.
Lieut. Scott D. Haziland, son of Mr. and Mrs. Squire B. Haziland, 4803 Morningside Avenue, is spending a 15-day furlough with his parents, Mrs. Haziland and the lieutenant returned together from a visit on the west coast.
Kenneth L. Bolton, recently of 1029 Irene Street, has begun training at the naval training station, Great Lakes, Illinois.
Robert E. Parker, son of Mr. and Mrs. Ed Parker, 323 W. 14th Street, was recently graduated from the naval technical training center at Norman, Oklahoma. He received the rating of seaman first class.

Max Lass, stationed in Australia, has been promoted to the rank of sergeant. He is the son of Mr. and Mrs. Harry Lass, 1712 Otoe Street.
Kenneth D. Aalseth, son of Mr. and Mrs. Ben Aalseth, 4111 46th Street, has entered navy officer’s training school at Trinity College, Hartford, Conn.
Claire O’Brien has been promoted from hospital assistant first class to pharmacist’s mate third class in the Waves. Stationed at San Francisco, she is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. James J. O’Brien, 309 Follis Apartment.
Arnold R. Carlson, shipfitter’s second class petty officer, has returned to Camp Peary, Virginia, after spending a five-day leave with his wife and son, 225 Webster Building. Another son, Seaman Second Class Lyle E. Carlson is serving in the South Pacific.
Second Lieut. Robert J. Salem is spending a 10-day furlough in the home of his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Edward Salem, 1013 Jennings Street. He has just been graduated from Officer’s training school at Camp Barkley, Texas, and will now report to Fort Riley, Kansas.
Lieut. Bernie Pollock is spending a furlough with his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Herman Pollock, 1222 Villa Avenue. He is stationed at Camp Claiborne, Louisiana.
Sergeant Dale Rarick, accompanied y his wife, is spending a 15-day furlough with his parents, Mr. and Mrs. George Rarick, 4403 Grant Street, Sergeant Rarick, who was a California golf professional before entering the army, was former Country Club “pro” under Mike Sherman. Stationed at Amarillo army air base, Texas, Sergeant Rarick, an aerial engineer on a Flying Fortress, is scheduled to go overseas in the near future. His brother, Capt. Ivan H. Rarick, Sioux City physician is stationed in the Aleutians and another brother, Capt. Earl A. Rarick is serving as an engineer in Sicily.
Lawrence (Larry) Cason, 26, seaman second class who completed his boot training at Farragut, Idaho, is here on a 15-day leave visiting in the home of his mother, Mrs. Mary Cason, 117 12th Street.
Private Harry Albert Sherrard, son of Mrs. Esther P. Sherrard, 1115 Pierce Street is among the new A. S. T. P. students at the University of Kentucky.
Aviation Student Milton Rosenblum has been honored by appointment as a student corporal at the training detachment, North Carolina State College, Raleigh, North Carolina. He is the son of Mr. and Mrs. Ben Rosenblum, 710 33d Street.
Aviation Cadet Raymond V. Barron, son of Mr. and Mrs. T. V. Barron, 4055 Jefferson Street, has arrived at the aviation cadet pre-technical school, Seymour Johnson field, North Carolina. He will be stationed there for officer basic training.
Private First Class James R. Brodie has completed the course of training in the aviation ordnancemen school, Memphis, Tennessee, and has been promoted to the rank of corporal. He is the son of John Brodie, 4436 Military Road, and received his boot training at San Diego.
Aviation Cadet Robert Verne Eckert has completed his primary flight training at the naval air station at Pasco, Washington and was transferred to Corpus Christi, Texas, for advanced flight training. He is an East High School graduate and the son of Mr. and Mrs. F. L. Eckert, former Sioux City resident, now of Venice, California. He also has two brothers in the navy, Fred Eckert, a lieutenant in the air corps and William Eckert, seaman second class.
Charles Uhl Hatt, who recently completed eight weeks’ training at naval training station at Farragut, Idaho, is spending a 15-day furlough with his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Carl F. Hatt, 1301 S Cecelia Street.
Private First Class Warren N. Willis, a graduate of the radio school at Scott field, Illinois has arrived here to spend a 10-day furlough with his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Harry Willis, 3621 Vine Avenue. Later he will go to the gunnery school at MacDill field, Florida for further training.
Sergeant Robert Dyer has informed his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Elmer Dyer, 1517 W. Third Street, of his safe arrival in England.
Aviation Cadet Joe Ringland, Jr., son of Mr. and Mrs. J. A. Ringland, 2109 Palmetto Street, has been graduated from the basic training center at Garden City, Kansas and now is at Tampa, Texas, where he will take advanced aviation training.
Sergeant Ralph G. Moe, son of Mrs. Bertha Moe, 1514 W. Fourth Street, stationed with army air forces in England, now spending a furlough viewing war damages abroad.
Warrant Officer Robert B. Lyon spent a 10-day furlough with his wife and son, 421 Allen Street, when en route from Springfield, Mass., to Nashville, Tennessee where he is to receive fighter pilot instructions.

Private First Class Stanley Pratt, stationed at Jefferson barracks, Jefferson, Missouri is spending a furlough with his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Harry P. Pratt, 4530 Manor Circle. He will leave Wednesday.
Aviation Cadet Donald Richardson has been transferred from Camp Roberts, California to Buckley field, Colorado. He is a son of Mr. and Mrs. O. S. Richardson, 2415 Cedar Street.
Lieut. Robert Ellis Roan, son of Mr. and Mrs. Thomas D. Roan, 1215 River Drive, has completed the pilot transition four-engine course at Hobbs, New Mexico army field. Roan was commissioned and received his pilot’s wings at Williams field, Arizona in August.
Private First Class Fred Shkerich, Jr. has been graduated from a course in airplane mechanics at Sheppard field, Texas. He is a son of Mr. and Mrs. Fred Shkerich, 1130 S. Westcott Street.

David R. Brown, Jr., son of Mr. and Mrs. D R. Brown, 3026 Jennings Street, has been graduated from St. Louis University Medical School and was commissioned a second lieutenant. He will serve as interne at St. Francis Hospital, Wichita, Kansas, before entering active service. A brother, Arthur W. Brown is a naval trainee at San Diego.
Private First Class Edward F. Reynolds has been transferred from Fort Leavenworth, Kansas to Fort Custer, Michigan. His wife resides at 315 S. Irene Street.
Richard Nelson, seaman second class is spending a furlough in the home of his parents, Mr. and Mrs. R. M. Nelson, 4419 Grant Street.
Arthur M. Nystrom, son of Mrs. A. M. Nystrom, 1819 Nebraska Street, is enrolled as an aviation cadet in the army preflight school at Maxwell field, Alabama.
Lieut. Samuel Newton has completed the pilot transition four-engine course at Hobbs, New Mexico, army airfield. He was commissioned wings at Fort Sumner, New Mexico, in August. He is a son of Mrs. Nellie Newton, 2312 Nebraska Street.
Private First Class Roy E. Leahy has been awarded the good conduct medal at the infantry school, Fort Benning, Georgia. He is a son of Mrs. Eva Leahy, 511 10th Street.
Bernard J. Sirois recently was promoted to sergeant at the air depot training station, Albuquerque, New Mexico. He has been transferred overseas and his wife, Yvonne, is residing at 129 Kansas Street, after having spent three months with her husband in Albuquerque.
Staff Sergeant Clarence Bradbury, son of Mr. and Mrs. William Bradbury, 1009 S. Helen Street, has returned to the United States after two years overseas. He is recovering from wounds suffered in April while serving in Africa.
Joe Franz has been graduated from the naval training school for aviation in Chicago. He has a petty officer rating of aviation machinist’s mate third class. He is a son of Mr. and Mrs. O. R. Franz, 511 w. 26th Street.
Air Cadet Robert P. Hasbrook, 4408 Morningside Avenue: Air Cadet Howard W. Aldrich, 315 21st Street and Air Cadet John E. Gilligan, 2708 Virginia Street, are stationed at Kirtland field, New Mexico. They are receiving advanced bombardier training and at the end of the course will receive their commissions and silver wings. They are the sons of Mr. and Mrs. Robert Hasbrook, Mrs. Mabel B. Aldrich and Mr. and Mrs. Charles Gilligan.

Technical Corporal Valoris Williams has returned to Louisville, Kentucky after spending a furlough with his wife, Eleanor, 1715 Court Street. He is a dental technician in the general hospital at Louisville.
Peter Hackett, son of Mrs. Lee M. Hackett, 3617 Peters Avenue, has arrived at Farragut, Idaho for boot training.

W. B. Burkman, yeoman third class, who has been spending a 14-day medical leave in the home of his parents, Mr. and Mrs. L. Burkman, 5 23d Street, has returned to the naval hospital at Oakland, California.
Robert Arnsdorff, son of Mr. and Mrs. John Arnsdorff, 1512 Virginia Street, has been promoted to the rank of staff sergeant at Reading Army Air Field, Reading, Pa.
Private Max Halber, husband of Mrs. B. Halber, Sioux City and son of Mrs. E. R. Philipp, Shaftesbury, England, has completed his parachute training at Fort Benning, Georgia.
Second Lieut. Edward W. Melady has reported to the army air forces school at San Marcos, Texas for advanced aerial navigation training. He is the son of Mr. Frances Melady, 2622 S. Martha Street.
Hal Barger, Jr., seaman second class, is spending a 15-day leave with his parents, Mr. and Mrs. H. E. Barger, 929 S. Martha Street. He has just completed his boot training.
Private Vernon W. Tott, stationed at Camp Claiborne, Louisiana, is spending a 14-day furlough with his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Hubert Tott, 1614 S. Linn Street.
Staff Sergeant J. W. Bennett, who has been stationed at Wendover, Utah, is spending a furlough with his family at 503 Iowa Street. From here he will go to Buckley field, Colorado, where he has been transferred.
Private First Class Robert Cotton has arrived from Camp Hyder, Arizona, to spend a short furlough with Mrs. Cotton, 915 Virginia Street and with other relatives.
Aviation Cadet Dewey Sample has just completed a course in aerial gunnery at Kingman, Arizona and is spending a nine-day furlough with his parents, Mr. and Mrs. L. Dewey Sample, 1919 Iowa Street. Upon his return he will be transferred to another camp for navigation bombardier training.
Corporal Herbert L. Whitver and wife have returned to Fort Sill, Oklahoma, after spending a 10-day furlough in their home, 3617 Jones Street. Corporal Whitver, who is stationed with a tank destroyer battalion, is a former salesman for Aalfs-Baker Manufacturing Company.
George O. Thompson, seaman second class, who s stationed with the navy air corps at Kingsville, Texas is visiting his parents, Mr. and Mrs. O. L. Thompson, 3035 Pierce Street and Miss Betty Thompson his sister, who teaches at Sioux Rapids, Iowa and is spending a few days here.

Harold (Boyd) Wheeler, Sioux City, has been promoted to the rank of sergeant and has been transferred from Fort Custer, Michigan to a camp in New England.
George Moore, aviation metalsmith third class, is spending a 12-day leave in the home of his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Sam Moore, 3250 Second Street. He is stationed at Norfolk, Virginia. A brother, Private First Class Jack Moore, is stationed with the marines in the South Pacific.
Sergeant Harold V. O’Connor is spending a brief furlough at the home of his mother, 1502 W. 16th Street.
Corporal E. Whitlock, stationed at Camp Ellis, Illinois, is spending a furlough with his wife and daughter, 317 14th Street and his aunt and uncle, Dr. and Mrs. M. E. Whitlock. Private Monroe Whitlock, Newport News, Virginia, visited his sister and brother over the weekend.
Private First Class Ben Spencer, stationed at Camp White, Oregon, is spending a short furlough with his wife, Evelyn and mother, Mrs. Leonard Boyle, Malloy Road.
Private First Class Dwight H. Bergquist has returned to Great Falls, Montana after spending a 15-day leave with his parents, Mr. and Mrs. A. H. Bergquist, 1309 28th.
Corporal Paul Timmons, son of Mr. and Mrs. Haskell Timmons, formerly of Sioux City now of California, has been wounded in Italy. He was also wounded in May during the African campaign. Corporal Timmons left Sioux City in 1941 with the National Guard.
Frank C. Perfect, 1805 S. Cedar Street, has been promoted to the rank of corporal at Kelly field, San Antonio, Texas.
John E. Windle, seaman second class, is spending a 15-day leave from Farragut, Idaho, with his parents, Mr. and Mrs. William Windle, 201 S. Davidson Avenue. His brother, Carl A. Windle, seaman first class is stationed at Pearl Harbor.
Capt. And Mrs. Phillip Miller spent the weekend with his parents, Mr. and Mrs. H. Miller, 1921 Grandview Boulevard. Capt. Miller is with the sanitary engineer corps.
Private Harold Grueskin has returned to Hunter field, Savannah, Georgia after spending a furlough with his parents, Mr. and Mrs. E. N. Grueskin, 3321 Jennings Street.
Private First Class Richard S. Bean has returned to duty with the western technical training command of the army air forces at Sheppard field, Wichita Falls, Texas after spending a 15-day furlough with his parents, Dr. and Mrs. Frank G. Bean, 2420 Jackson Street.
Private Harold W. Moore, stationed at North Camp Polk, Louisiana, is spending a 15-day furlough with his mother, Mrs. Dorothy Moore, 4336 Springfield Street and other relatives.
Sergeant William F. Bergman, son of Clemens S. Bergman, 1665 W. Willis Avenue and Sergeant Elmer C. Colt, son of Mrs. Lucille Colt, 5307 Military Road, are recent graduates of the Harlingen Flexible Gunnery School, Harlingen, Texas and have been awarded their silver wings.
Staff Sergeant LeRoy A. Prince, son of Mrs Emma Prince, 1208 Pierce Street, has been awarded the good conduct medal at an Eighth air force bomber command station in England. His wife resides in Fresno, California. Before entering the army, Sergeant Prince was an employee of the Warfield Distributing Company.
Sergeant William J. Taylor, son of Mrs. John Meyers, 609 Bluff Street, is training as an armorer-crew at the army air base, Casper, Wyoming.
Lieut. Bernard Borger has returned to Camp Hood, Texas after spending a furlough with his mother, Mrs. Laura C. Borger, at the home of an aunt, Mrs. John Gripp, 3335 Sixth Avenue. He is an instructor in the tank destroyer school.
Private Clayton K. McGuire, son of Mr. and Mrs. C. S. McGuire, 2215 41st Street, is taking a course in radio operating and mechanics at Scott field, Illinois.
Private First Class Maurice M. Godsey has returned to Atlantic field, North Carolina, where he is training in the marine air corps after spending a furlough with his parents, Mr. and Mrs. C. T Godsey at Sloan, Iowa and a sister, Miss Betty Godsey, 1308 Nebraska Street.
Private First Class Robert J. Ehlers, son of Mr. and Mrs. William Ehlers, Jr., 1423 W. Fifth Street, has received an honorable discharge from the army. He had served eight months in the air corps and had been stationed at New Orleans, La.
