Capt. Kenneth Hoffman has arrived home on terminal leave, and will get his discharge by mail in February.  He plans to go to college after a vacation.

John G. Ufken, the husband of Mrs. Lila E. Ufken of LeMars is on his way home from Pearl Harbor, T.H.  Passengers will go directly to the separation centers nearest their homes to complete the formalities of obtaining their discharges before returning to civilian life.

William D. Westergard, signalman, first class, of LeMars is getting ready to rejoin civilians, with thousands of others going through the naval demobilization center headed for the States.  At the naval staging center, Pearl Harbor, T.H., the prospective discharges are grouped according to what separation center they will report to for their final papers.

Francis J. Miller, son of Mr. and Mrs. John Miller, Rt. 4, LeMars, arrived home last Wednesday afternoon receiving his discharge from the armed forces at Camp Grant, Ill.  He had been in service 3 years and two months and went overseas in June 1943, where he served in the European theater. 

William Boyle, stationed with a marine unit at San Francisco, is enjoying a 7-day leave at his parents home.

Flight Officer Ralph N. Wiltgen arrived in LeMars Tuesday evening from Westover Field, Mass., where he was discharged from the army air corps.  He will assist his father, N. W. Wiltgen, in carpentry until next fall when he and Arnold Welter plan to enter Iowa or Minnesota state university. 

Pvt. William Heissel, son of Mr. and Mrs. W. F. Heissel of Merrill, left Friday for Fort Riley, Kansas, after spending a two weeks furlough in the home of his parents.  William has completed his 17 weeks basic infantry training at Camp Hood, Tex.
