Additional Information:
The school was located 5 miles NE of Joice in section 23, Bristol Township, just south of the Bristol Lutheran Church.
According to the book "The First 100 Years, 1899-1999, Joice, Iowa, page 83," Bristol #5 was originally known as the Strom School. Will Todd was a teacher in 1884, with 25 students. Later Anthony Lindflot was a teacher with 48 students.

In 1911-1912 Mabel Abraham was the teacher. Her students were: Minnie Calgaard, Henry Halvorson, Julia Ostmo, Julie Bulie, Oscar Calgaard, Peter Ostmo, Clara Holmseth, Emma Ostmo, Inghart Halvoson, Helmer Sanden, Ida Strom, Ruth Halvorson, Board Randall, Gilman Anderson, Palmer Calgaard, Clarence Sanden, Peder Tollefsrud, Lars Ballanby, Mabel Hagen, Mable Calgaard, Almer Halvorson and Nickolie Bulie.

Three different school buildings were used thoughout the years. The last one was destroyed in a tornado on May 10, 1953.
