Early Winnebago Co. Cemetery Records

from the Iowa Genealogical Record

Important Note! The publication does not indicate why this cemetery survey was conducted. It appears that the surveyor was checking the condition of the cemeteries, and that in most cases the earliest graves in these cemeteries were the target. Some of the cemeteries are named, others are not. All notes added by the transcriber appear in [brackets].

  • Center Township, Section 34. Part of this cemetery is well cared for, part is overgrown with poison ivy, and some stones down. Only took [recorded] the old grave here as the others seem to be well cared for.

  • Center Township, Section 28. This cemetery we were told is the oldest in the vicinity. It has no care except to mow the weeds. Two plots were fenced in but have no stones. It is on the Charlson farm and part of the cabin lies near. Most of the graves are said to be those of the family. Only four stones could we find.
