Look-Up and Research Help

Last updated 17 Aug 2013

I am able to do limited research using the Washington County Genealogy Library Collection. Please give specific names, pertinent dates and locations in the county if known. Resources available include: Federal & State censuses, Washington County marriages, deaths, births, cemetery surveys, county newspapers on microfilm, and family histories.

There will be times that I will be out of state and not have access to the library, but I will try to make arrangements to get you the requested data. I will always try to provide status of your request within 48 hours of receipt. Please use the Washington County IAGenWeb Queries Message Board or email me at Joanne Breen, County Coordinator

The Washington County Genealogical Society also does research for a fee. Complete and submit the form @ this website: Genealogy Request Form

Washington County, IA Needs Volunteers!

As a lookup volunteer, you will only be required to look up limited information on one or two individuals at a time. Reference material of interest could include family histories, marriage records, death records, cemetery lists, county or town history books, census indexes, etc. If you own or have access to reference materials of genealogical value to Washington County Iowa family researchers, please consider volunteering your time and material.

Types of materials we are looking for include family histories, biographies, photos, obituaries, tombstone photos & inscriptions, cemetery lists, etc. Because of copyright laws, only materials dated before 1923 or written by the submitter will be accepted.
