LAURA CHITTENDEN ( died Apr 9, 1875, daughter of G.E. & M.E. Chittenden)
I’ve created a story for Laura Chittenden, but I’m sorry to say that it is only a speculation, because I  was unable to find conclusive evidence, nevertheless; this is what I believe.  First of all, I think the engraving on Laura’s stone, of her father’s initials are C.E. (not G.E.) Chittenden.
There was a Charles Edward Chittenden married to Ella M. Risor in 1869 in Knox Co., IL. Both Charles and Ella M. were born in Illinois.  They moved to Iowa and had a daughter, Minnie Chittenden, born in Warren County in 1873 and a daughter, Sarah Inez Chittenden, born in Warren County in 1877.  People often reversed their names and Ella M. may have also used M. E. for her initials.  This is the most likely conclusion that I can find, i.e. baby girl,  Laura Chittenden, who died April 9, 1875, was the middle daughter of Charles E. and M. Ella  Chittenden, and was buried in Lacey Cemetery.
Charles and Ella M. also had an older son, Frank C. Chittenden, born in Missouri  in 1871.  Charles and Ella M. moved back to Knox Co., IL, but their children, Frank and Sarah Inis, returned to Warren County and were married there.  Frank married Nora Wallace in Indianola on Aug 10, 1895, while Sarah Inis married Frank M. Bill in Union Township of Warren County on Apr 14, 1897.
Laura’s mother, Ella M. Risor, was born in 1849, the daughter of William and Sarah Risor. I was not able to find what happened to Ella M. after 1880 in Knox Co., IL.
Laura’s father, Charles Chittenden, was born in 1847, the son of George W. Chittenden Sr.  (buried in Lacey Cemetery and listed above) and Anna VanGilder.  Charles later married a Mrs. Eliza E. Martin on Oct 11, 1883 in Knox Co., Il.  They had a least one daughter, Hester E. Chittenden, born in 1888.  Charles was  living with his wife, Eliza E., and daughter, Hester, in Van Meter, Dallas County, in the 1905 Iowa census, however; in the fall he married Carrie Batey Clark, on Oct 17, 1905, in Crawford County, Iowa.  Charles was 58 years old in 1905. No more information was found for Charles.

FLORENCE DUNN (Dec 26, 1859 – Aug 21, 1868)
Florence D. “Flossie” Dunn was born in Warren County, Iowa the day after Christmas in 1859. She was the second daughter of John R. Dunn and Nancy E. Thomason. John was born Aug 28, 1831 in Ohio while Nancy was born in Jan 30, 1836 in North Carolina.  They were married around 1857 in Indiana, moved to Wisconsin and had their first daughter there, Virginia Alice Dunn, born 1858.  The family moved to Warren County, Iowa and had Florence D. Dunn in 1859, and sons: Thomas J. Dunn in 1862, Charles P. Dunn in 1864, Wallace B. Dunn in 1866, and Clarence Alonzo “Lon” Dunn in Sep 1868. On Aug 21, 1868 Florence died at the age of eight.  Their mother, Nancy, died July 29, 1869 in Warren County. Both Florence and Nancy were buried in Lacey Cemetery.  John married again on June 18, 1872 to Mary E. Burson in Warren County.  They had a son, Iverson O. Dunn in 1873.  Both John and Mary Dunn are buried in Milo IOOF Cemetery; John died Apr 13, 1914 and Mary died Jan 1, 1919.

NANCY E. DUNN (Jan 30, 1836 – July 29, 1869)
Nancy Emily Dunn was the daughter of Pleasant A. Thomason and Lavina Snipes, born on Jan 30, 1836 in Stokes County, North Carolina.  Nancy had two older brothers, Timothy born 1828 and Berry born 1832, as well as a younger brother, John born 1837. All these children were born in North Carolina.  The family moved to Indiana between 1840-1850.  Nancy married John R. Dunn on Mar 26, 1857 in Warren County, Indiana.  Nancy and John Dunn had six children: Virginia A. in 1858, Florence D. in 1859, Thomas J. in 1862, Charles P. in 1864, Wallace B. in 1866, and Clarence A. in Sep 1868.  The family had moved to Warren County, Iowa in 1859.  Their daughter, Florence, died in August of 1868.  Nancy died on July 29, 1869 when she was 33 years old and was buried in Lacey Cemetery in Warren County. John Dunn married Mary E. Burson in 1872 and had another son, Iverson O. in 1873.  John died in 1914 and was buried with his second wife in Milo IOOF Cemetery, Milo, Iowa. [note; Nancy E. Dunn was the mother of Florence Dunn, mentioned previously.]

SARAH ANN JINKINS (May 7, 1821 – Sep 18, 1871)
Sarah Ann VanSickle was the eleventh child of John VanSickle and Elizabeth McBride, born on May 7, 1821 in Indiana. Sarah grew up in Ripley County, Indiana.  When she was 21 she married William Jinkins Jr. in Dearborn County, Indiana on Oct 27, 1842.  William and Sarah Jinkins moved to Warren Township, Marion County, Indiana and had five children: Elizabeth Jinkins (1843-?), Mary Jane Jinkins Loney (1844-1924), Martha Jinkins Boothe (1846-1912), William Taylor Jinkins (1848-1907) and Cyrus Wesley Jinkins (1850-1907).  Between 1850 and 1860 the Jinkins family moved to Wayne Township, Monroe County, Iowa and lived there until 1871 when they moved to Belmont Township, Warren County. Sarah died at age 49 on Sep 18, 1871.  She was buried in Lacey Cemetery, Belmont Township, Warren County, Iowa.  Her husband, William, later married Amanda E. Hunter Stoops on Feb 16, 1875.  Amanda had been previously married to David Henry Stoops and they had also lived in Warren Township of Marion County, Indiana.  William and Amanda didn’t have any children together.  William Jinkins was born Mar 1, 1824 and died on May 20, 1890.  He was buried in Belmont Cemetery, Warren County, Iowa.  William’s second wife, Amanda (1826-1911), was buried in Milo I.O.O.F. Cemetery.

JAMES LONG (Aug 7, 1852 – 1859)
James Long  was the 6th child born to John Long and Louisa Jane McNamer (mentioned below).  James was born Aug 7, 1852 in Peoria, Illinois.  He was just three years old when his family moved to Warren County, Iowa.  James only lived to be seven years old.  He died in 1859 and was buried in Lacey Cemetery, Belmont Township.

JOHN LONG (June 30, 1817 – Apr 25, 1882)
John Long was born in Lexington, Kentucky June 30, 1817.  He moved to Hamilton County, Illinois and married Louisa Jane McNamer there on June 17, 1838.  John and Jane moved to Peoria County, Illinois and had six children.  John was a farmer and purchased 100 acres of land.  The family moved to Warren County, Iowa in 1855 and had four more children.  They were:  (1) Alexander born  1839 (married Abigail Emily Richardson),  (2) Lydia C. born in 1842 (married William Michaels), (3) Henry born in 1844 (married Celia Benge), (4) Jeremiah M. born in 1847 (married Harriett D. Robertson), (5) Jeannette born in 1850, died before 1860, (6) James born in 1852, died 1859, (7) Manece Ellen born in 1856 (married Lewis Schee), (8) John C. F. born in 1858 (married Martha S. Pennington), (9) Theodore born in 1861 (married Ella A. Robertson), and (10) an infant, birth and death date unknown.
John originally purchased 160 acres of land in Warren County in Belmont and Otter Townships.  Later he purchased an additional 400 acres on which he farmed and raised stock.   According to a 1908 history of Warren County, he also served several terms as township clerk.  When John was 51 he became paralyzed, and was incapacitated the rest of his life until he died Apr 25, 1882 at age 64.  His wife, Jane, had died five months earlier.  Both John and Jane Long are buried in Lacey Cemetery in Belmont Township.

LOUISA JANE LONG (May 1, 1819 – Nov 16, 1881)
Louisa Jane McNamer was born in Hamilton County, Illinois on May 1, 1819, the daughter of Jeremiah McNemar and Keziah Proctor.  Her father, Jeremiah, purchased 160 acres of land there on Feb 10, 1819.  Louisa Jane was the fourth of their five children.  She grew up and married John Long there on June 17, 1838.  Louisa Jane’s father died before 1840, so her mother, Keziah McNemar, moved in with John and Louisa Jane Long.  The family moved to Peoria County, Illinois and had six children. Louisa’s mother, Keziah died in 1851 in Peoria County, Illinois and was buried in Pleasant Grove Cemetery, Eden, Illinois.  Louisa Jane and John Long moved to Warren County, Iowa in 1855 and had four more children, in all: Alexander, Lydia C., Henry, Jeremiah M., Jeannette, James, Manece Ellen, John C. F., Theodore, and a child who died in infancy.  Louisa Jane and John  lived on a farm in Belmont Township, north of the town of Milo.  They attended a Methodist church in Milo.  At age 56 Louisa suffered from heart disease.  She lived to be 62 years old, passing away on Nov 16, 1881.  Her husband, John, had paralysis for many years and died five months later.  Both Louisa Jane and John Long were buried in Lacey Cemetery, Belmont Township, Warren County, Iowa.

LILLIE D. LYON (died Nov 28, 1873,  daughter of E. T. & E.A. Lyon)
I’m speculating the story of Lillie D. Lyon.  Her gravestone in Lacey Cemetery was verified by walking the cemetery in the 1970s to read Lillie D. Lyon, died November 28, 1873, the daughter of E. T. & E. A. Lyon.  The only parents  I can find who match those initials would be Edgar Thomas Lyon and his wife, Eliza A. Tucker who were married in Warren County on Feb 9, 1873.
Edgar T. Lyon was listed in the 1860 Federal census in Union Township, Warren Co., Iowa at age 5, with his father, Elijah Lyon, and step- mother, Mary Beeman.  Edgar’s mother , Catherine Hiatt, had died in 1857 and was buried in Sandyville Cemetery, Warren Co., Iowa. In the 1870 federal census, Edgar Lyon was age 15, living in Belmont Township with his father and step-mother.  By 1873 Thomas Edgar Lyon was 18 years old and married Eliza A. Tucker, age 22.
Eliza A. Tucker was the daughter of George and Mary Tucker.  The 1860 federal census, Belmont Township, Warren Co, IA shows George and Mary Tucker with daughter, Eliza Tucker, age 10.  Eliza’s mother, Mary , died on June 9, 1863 and was buried in Lacey Cemetery.  George Tucker  married Eliza Lee on Apr 21, 1870, so the 1870 federal census for Otter Township, Warren Co. shows George and Eliza Tucker with daughter Eliza Tucker, age 19.  Eliza’s father, George, died the next year, on Apr 15, 1871, and was also buried in Lacey Cemetery, with his first wife.
The marriage listing for Thomas Lyon shows his birth year as 1855.  Since Edgar Thomas Lyon and Eliza A. Tucker were married Feb 9, 1873 in Warren County,  I believe Lillie D. Lyon, was their baby girl,  born in 1873, and died Nov 28, 1873.  Unfortunately, I haven’t found any more information for Eliza A. Tucker.  I was able to track Edgar Thomas Lyon (aka Thomas Edgar Lyon). His father and siblings moved to Missouri and Thomas Edgar Tucker married Nancy Ella Sluder on Dec 28, 1879 in Johnson County, MO.  Thomas E. and Nancy Ella Lyon had seven children.  Both Thomas E. and Nancy Ella Lyon are buried in Bucklin Cemetery, Ford County, Kansas. [Note: Lillie D. Lyon would be the granddaughter of George and Mary Tucker, mentioned below]

LULIE L. BELLE SANDY (February 3, 1865 – March 25, 1865)
JOHN L. SANDY (June 10, 1866 – July 4, 1866)
ELIZABETH SANDY (December 29, 1872 – December 10, 1873)
All three of these babies: Lulie L. Belle Sandy, John L. Aaron H. Sandy and Martha A. Bryant were married in Milo, Belmont Township of Warren County on March 19th, 1857.  Aaron and Martha Sandy were living in Belmont Township in 1860 and 1870, but moved to Clarke County Iowa, Fremont Township, and  lived there during the 1880 census.  They moved to Des Moines, Iowa with a residence at 1417 Lyon Street in 1885, and lived there when  Aaron died on Sept 18, 1889.  While married, Aaron and Martha had at least ten Children: Ernest Eugene Sandy (1860-1927), Jeremiah Franklin Sandy (1863-1933), Lulie L. Belle Sandy (1865-1865), William Paris Sandy (1866-1940), and twin,  John L. Sandy (1866-1866), James E. Sandy (1871-1918), Elizabeth Sandy (1872-1873), Alexander H. Sandy (1874-aft. 1925), Maude Leota Sandy (1884-1963), and Emma B. Sandy (1888-aft. 1930). Lulie L. Belle Sandy, John L. Sandy, and Elizabeth Sandy are all buried in Lacey Cemetery, Belmont Township of Warren County.  Lulie lived one month and 22 days, John L. was 24 days old, and Elizabeth lived 11 months, 11 days.
Aaron’s parents, Henry and Susannah Sandy, were buried in Sandyville Cemetery in Warren County, while Martha’s parents, John and Margaret Bryant, are buried in Milo IOOF Cemetery, in Warren County.  After the death of her husband, Aaron, Martha Ann Sandy married John W. Johnson in Des Moines, Iowa on June 25, 1890.  This couple continued living in Des Moines until their deaths; John W. died on Jan. 23, 1914 and Martha died on May 30, 1922.  Both are buried in Laurel Hill Cemetery in Des Moines. [Note; Babies, Lulie, John, and Elizabeth Sandy were nieces and nephew to Mary Jane Bryant mentioned previously]

Nancy Catherine Cochran was born on May 8, 1839 in Ohio, the daughter of William H. Cochran and Elizabeth Martin.  Nancy’s father died when she was  one year old and her mother died when she was three.  She was raised by her mother’s brother and his wife, Asa Martin and Nancy Ramsey in Athens County, Ohio.  She moved to Illinois and married Thomas Winfield Scott in Bureau County, IL on Oct 15, 1865.  T. Winfield Scott was born in Union County, Ohio in 1839 and had served  as a Private in the Civil War in Company B of the 52nd Illinois Volunteer Infantry.  The couple moved to Warren County, Iowa and had a daughter, Lavina May Scott, Nov 7, 1866.  Nancy C. Scott died on May 31, 1869 and was buried in Lacey Cemetery, Belmont Township, Warren County.  Her husband married Matilda Lacey in Warren County on July 2, 1870.  They moved to Decatur County, Iowa and had five children: John A. Scott,  Maria Ella Scott, Ida Bell Scott, Martha Retta Scott, and Samuel Thomas Scott.  Nancy and Winfield Scott’s daughter, Lavina, married Elmer D. Hill on Aug 15, 1891 in Alton, Kansas and they had at least four children.  Lavina May Hill died May 31, 1915 and is buried in Fairview Cemetery, Osborne Co, KS.

George Calvin Tucker was born June 24, 1826 in Tennessee.  He married Mary Green around 1846 in Indiana.  George and Mary had seven children: (1) Cornelius born 1847 in Indiana (married Elizabeth C. Beaman), (2) Emily born 1849 in Indiana (married Rufus A. Brady), (3) Eliza born 1850 in Indiana, (4) Louisa born 1854 in Iowa (married C. W. Jenkins), (5) George C. born 1858 in Iowa (married Alice Gilbert), (6) Enoch B. born 1859 in Iowa (married Ida Merryman), and (7) Lucinda born 1853 in Iowa. As noted by the birthplace of the children, the family moved from Monroe County, Indiana to Belmont Township, Warren County, Iowa between 1850 and 1854. George’s wife, Mary, died on June 9, 1863 at age 36 and buried in Lacey Cemetery.  This left George with four children below the age of ten.  He married Edith Trimmis on Feb 11, 1864. Edith died March 7, 1869 and was buried in Lacey Cemetery. The family moved to Otter Township in Warren County and George married Eliza Lee on April 21, 1870.  George died the next year at age 45 and was buried in Lacey Cemetery with his wife, Mary.
[side note: George and Mary’s third child was Eliza Tucker.  There was an Eliza Tucker (born 1851) who married a Thomas Lyon (born 1855) in Warren County, Iowa on Feb 3, 1873.  I’ve found no more information on Eliza, but I believe this Thomas was Thomas Edgar Lyon, born Feb 1, 1855 in Kentucky, the son of Elijah Lyon & Catherine Hiatt.  This Thomas E. Lyon married Ella Sluder on Dec 28, 1879 in Johnson Co., MO, died May 1, 1925, and is buried in Bucklin Cemetery, Ford County, KS.
