BALLOT #2:
Succession?
Should the IAGenWeb formally adopt the three-year method of leadership
succession we currently use to elect our IAGenWeb Project state officers?
Vote either Yes or No.
- Since our inception in 1996 the IAGenWeb has
evolved an annual election based upon a model used by the Toastmasters,
Lions Club, Rotary Club and other established volunteer organizations.
- Each April the State Coordinator issues a call
for volunteers to run for the position of IAGenWeb State Coordinator and
become part of the state leadership team.
- This model gives everyone with the desire an opportunity to serve.
- The model requires a three year commitment.
- Year one serve as Assistant State
Coordinator to become familiar with the operation.
- Performs duties as assigned by the
State Coordinator which have traditionally included
- Coordinating the November and April
County Reviews
- Coordinating the annual IAGenWeb election in June
- Assist the State Coordinator in the
operations of state business.
- Year two serve as IAGenWeb State
Coordinator
- Maintain and represent Iowa within the
USGenWeb Project
- Provide the leadership focus for the
IAGenWeb Project
- Has final decision authority and
responsibility for the IAGenWeb Project
- Year three serve as Immediate Past
State Coordinator
- Provide background depth and
continuity.
- Assist the State Coordinator in the
operations of state business.
- The model recognizes no one person can be on
the job at full strength all the time during the year and provides for a leadership
committee to tend to the day-to-day business and operation of the
IAGenWeb.
- This model has been "under review"
since 1997.
- A vote Yes means IAGenWeb should formally adopt the
model.
- A vote No means the IAGenWeb should not adopt the model.
