Brott, Lowell Verdene -

Funeral services for Lowell Verdene Brott of rural Clearfield were held Tuesday, April 23, at the United Methodist Church in

Clearfield with Rev. Len Garrison officiating. Wilson-Watson & Armstrong Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.

Casket bearers were Scot Trost, Matt Ryan, Michael Ryan, Darrell Brown Jr., Jeremy Robinson, Garrett Robinson, and

Gabriel Robinson. Music was provided by Randall Trost.

Interment was in the Clearfield Cemetery.

Lowell was born on April 1, 1925 to Grant and Alma (Michael) Brott near Redding, Iowa. He passed away on April 20,

2002, at the Iowa Methodist Medical Center in Des Moines.

Lowell attended and graduated from Redding High School in 1942. On March 28, 1948, he was married to Vaunceil Beck. They

lived on a farm three miles north of Clearfield for 52 years. In 2001 they purchased a home in Clearfield.

Lowell enjoyed farming, country music, tinkering in his shed or building tractor mail. One of his favorite pastimes was going to

the Clearfield Cafe for a cup of coffee and to chat with friends. After retiring he continued his interest in farming through

is sons-in-law and grandson.

He was a member of the Masonic Lodge, the United Methodist Church and the Clearfield Lions Club. He spent many years

enjoying camping and helping with the Lions shuttle buses at the Iowa State Fair.

Survivors include his wife, Vaunceil of Clearfield; daughters Susan (husband Robert) Ryan of rural Clearfield, Cindy (husband

Randall) Trost of Lenox, and Denise (husband Richard) Robinson of Lenox; nine grandchildren, Matt (wife Jenna) Ryan, Molly

Ryan, Mike Ryan; Jeremy Robinson, Garrett Robinson, Maggie Robinson, Gabriel Robinson, Scot (wife Nicki) Trost, Victoria

(husband Darrell Jr.) Brown; great-grandchildren Hannah and Sophie Brown and Samantha Trost; sister Betty (husband Leonard)

Zigler of Brooklyn, Iowa; stepmother Bertha Brott of Clearfield; and sister-in-law Charlene Brott of Clearfield.

Preceding Lowell in death were his parents, Grant and Alma, and his brother, Charles Brott.

Bush, Ruby Evelyn Dahlberg -

Memorial services for Ruby Evelyn Bush are scheduled for April 27, 10 am at the First United Methodist Church in

Longmont, Colo.

She was born October 31, 1915, in Adams County to Floyd Harrison Dahlberg and Carrie Annie (Butler) Dahlberg. She

passed away on April 19, 2002.

Ruby was an excellent high school basketball player. She was married on Nov. 13, 1937 to Lowell Bush in Corning.

She and her husband enjoyed searching for different types of rocks, wood carving and silver smith. Mrs. Bush also enjoyed

knitting and spending time with her children and grandchildren.

In May 1975, after her husband Lowell retired from the post office, they moved to Longmont to be closer to their children

and grandchildren.

Survivors include her husband Lowell; sons Lowell D. (wife Joan) of Castle Rock, Colo., David (wife Pam) Bush of

Drummond, Mont.; grandchildren Jeffery (wife Kelley) Lutz of Denver, Colo., and Joni (husband Keith) of Longmont; great

grandchildren Cortney, Rylie and Cooper Martin, all of Longmont; son-in-law Dennis Lutz; a sister, Dorothy (husband Mack)

Pershin of Creston.

She was preceded in death by a daughter, Eleanor Lutz, and a sister, Alice Reynolds.

Folcey, Martha Pearl Hulen -

Funeral services for Martha Folcey, age 95, of Lenox, were held Friday, April 12, 2002 at 1:30 p.m. at the Lenox Christian

Church. Interment was held in the West Fairview Cemetery in Lenox. Memorials can be directed to the Lenox Community Trust

or the Lenox Christian Church. Arrangements were entrusted to the Ritchie Funeral Home of Lenox.

She died Monday April 8, 2002.

Martha Pearl Folcey, was born January 23, 1907 in Sturgeon, Missouri the daughter of Louie Hulen and Mattie Bush Hulen.

Martha grew up attending and graduating from high school in Centralia, Missouri. She then attended college in Kirksville, Mo.,

where she received a Teacher's Certificate.

A country school in Missouri was Martha's first teaching experience. After teaching there for a couple of years, she came to

Lenox and was a third grade teacher. She met Francis Folcey while teaching school here. They were married on August 21, 1932.

He managed and later owned a grocery store in Lenox for several years.

In later years Fran sold advertising. After his stroke, Martha helped him to keep that business by driving him to various towns

to see his customers. They both enjoyed being able to be out and around people. Fran passed away in August of 1984.

Martha resided at the Lenox Care Center since the fall of 1993. She was a member of the Lenox Christian Church and PEO.

She enjoyed playing golf, cooking, traveling and playing bridge.

Although Martha and Fran had no children of their own, they enjoyed having all the neighborhood children stop by, especially

in the summer when they would be sitting on their front porch.

Left to honor Martha's memory are a niece, Mrs. Beverly Pohle of St. Louis, Missouri and a great niece, Rhonda" Kay"

Hudson and husband Lee of Centralia, Missouri, along with other relatives and friends.

Preceding Martha in death were her parents Louie and Mattie, her husband Fran, three brothers, Howard, Arthur and Guy and

two sisters, Goldie Ethington and Geraldine Fliege.

Haley, Jack -

Funeral services for Jack Haley of Carbon, Iowa, were held on April 13, 2002, at Coen-Beaty-Pearson Family Funeral Service in

Corning, with Rev. Ken Rummer of the Corning Presbyterian Church officiating. Interment was in Strand Lutheran Cemetery in

Adams County. Memorials can be made to Strand Lutheran Church.

Jack passed away April 20, 2002, at St. Joseph Hospital in Omaha, Neb.

He was born Sept. 5, 1927 in Douglas Township, Carbon, to Clifford Floyd Haley and Lillian McChesney Haley. He worked for

EverReady in Red Oak for 36 years. He also farmed about 3 miles northwest of Carbon and also farmed his father's land near Mt.

Etna. He retired in 1991. He was a lifetime resident of Carbon.

Survivors include daughter Jackie (husband Bryce) VanHouten of Red Oak; sons Roger (wife Vicki L.) Haley of Corning, Ramon

(wife Pam) Haley of Corning, and Doug (wife Linda) Haley of Carbon; sisters Lois Wilkinson of Carbon, Twyla Dicks of Council

Bluffs, and Delores (husband Ron) Jackson of Villisca; 14 grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents; two sons, Virgil Floyd Haley Jr. and Clifford Haley; and two brothers-in-law,

Junior Wilkinson and Victor Dicks.

Hamblin, Gary Lee -

Gary Lee Hamblin, 63, passed away at his home in Minden, Iowa on April 21, 2002. Services were held at the Neola

Presbyterian Church in Neola, Iowa Thursday, April 25, 2002 at 10:30 a.m. Officiating was Pastor Dean Sparr, organist:

Shirley Larsen, played "In the Garden", soloist was: Lynn Kadel, she sang "How Great Thou Art". The pallbearers

were Gene Fritz, Dennis Fritz, Darrell Henningsen, Ted Johnk, Richard McLaughlin and Jerry Mez, Interment was in

the Minden Cemetery, Minden, Iowa.

Gary Lee Hamblin was born on December 7, 1938 in Sharpsburg, Iowa. He was one of two children born to Lloyd and

Helen Taylor Hamblin. Gary graduated from Lenox High School in 1957.

He was united in marriage to Carolee Anne Beggs in 1959. They were the parents of three children: Kim, Kolene and

Kayla. Gary served in the U.S. Army and Reserves from 1956 to 1966.

Gary owned and operated Gary's Barbershop in Oakland, Iowa from 1962 to 1970. He then worked in the implement

business at Avoca Implement for a number of years.

He was united in marriage to Loretta Pedersen on March 3, 1997 at the Neola Presbyterian Church in Neola, Iowa.

He enjoyed working outdoors, refinishing furniture, dancing, collecting tractors and also collecting juicers.

Gary passed away at his residence in Minden, Iowa on April 21, 2002. He attained the age of 63 years, 4 months and

14 days.

Gary was preceded in death by his mother. He leaves to mourn his passing his father, Lloyd of Lenox, Iowa, his wife

Loretta, his children: Kimberly and her husband Kenneth McDonald of Persia, Iowa, Kolene Kohll and her fiance Dave

Miller of Omaha, Nebraska, Kayla and her husband Brian Gute of Omaha, Nebraska, Jennifer Miller and her Fiance

Jeremy Crazier of Presia, Iowa, Janelle and her husband Scott Spencer of Persia, Iowa, Jason Miller of Shelby,

Iowa, one brother Richard Hamblin and his wife Clara of Two Rivers, Wisconsin, 10 grandchildren, along with other

relatives and many friends.

Everyone was invited to return to the church for fellowship following the interment.

Jones, Viola Mae Riggle Brown -

Funeral services for Viola Jones, age 87, of Lenox, were held Tuesday, April 9, 2002 at the United Methodist Church in Lenox.

Interment was held in the North Fairview Cemetery in Lenox. Memorials can be given in Viola's name. Arrangements were

entrusted to the Ritchie Funeral Home of Lenox. Viola passed away Saturday, April 6, 2002.

Viola Mae Jones was born March 11, 1914 in Lenox, the daughter of Albert Riggle and Charlotte Allen Riggle. She grew up

attending rural schools and on May 27, 1932 was united in marriage to James Brown in Hopkins, Mo. In 1973 James passed

away. On May 5, 1975 she was united in marriage to George R. Jones in Lenox. She and George shared 17 years together

until his death in 1992. Three years later Viola moved to the Lenox Care Center, and later moved to the Goldenrod Manor

in Clarinda to be near her daughter.

Viola was a homemaker who enjoyed doing crafts, crocheting and spending time in her flower garden. She enjoyed being around

people and sold Avon for many years. Viola and George enjoyed traveling to see their family. She was an excellent cook who

specialized in making pies, bread, sweet rolls and noodles on a weekly basis. Her family was always most important to her and

she enjoyed spending as much time with them as she could.

She was a longtime member of the United Methodist Church in Lenox along with various neighborhood clubs.

Survivors include three daughters, Shirley Rainforth and husband Gordon of New Market; Phyllis Hood of St. Peters, Mo.;

and Elaine Claiser of Des Moines; 15 grandchildren; 34 great grandchildren; and five great-great grandchildren.

Preceding Viola in death were her parents Albert and Charlotte; her first husband James Brown in 1973; her second

husband George Jones in 1992; son Raymond Brown in 1999; brother Glen Riggle; four sisters, Edith Murren, Mable Ridenour,

Dolly Showalter and a sister at infancy; and three great-grandsons.

Moore, Bernard (Bernie) -

Funeral services for Bernard Moore, age 80, of Creston were held March 27 at Coen-Beaty-Pearson Family Funeral Service

with Rev. Bharat Surender of the Cromwell Congregational United Church of Christ officiating. Military rites were by American

Legion Theodore J. Martins Post 1797.

Bernard passed away on March 24, 2002, after a battle against cancer. Interment was at Maple Gill Cemetery, Cromwell.

Memorials in his name can be made to Green Valley Hospice or Cromwell Congregational United Church of Christ.

He was born Nov. 17, 1921 in Adams County, Prescott Township, to Ivan H. Moore and Claudine May Copeland Moore.

He graduated from Cromwell High School in 1941. He married Wanda Eschle on Feb. 11, 1945, in Creston. He served in the U.S.

Army 1946-1947.

Bernard was a farm service delivery man for Franklin Standard-Amoco station. He retired in 1992.

Survivors include his wife, Wanda Eschle Moore of Creston; his mother, Claudine Moore of Creston; daughter Sandra (husband

Les) Carlson of Creston; sisters Doris Hood (husband Dale) of Diagonal and Lavetta (husband Arnold) Burkhalter of Creston; 2

grandchildren and 5 great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his father, Ivan H. Moore, in 1974.

Moore, Ramon Kenneth -

Graveside services for Ramon Moore, age 65 of Bedford, who died Friday, April 5, 2002 were held Tuesday, April 9, at the

Fairview Cemetery in Bedford with Reverend Susan Noakes officiating. Memorials can be directed to the Bedford Ambulance.

Arrangements were by Ritchie Funeral Home of Bedford.

Ramon Kenneth Moore was born July 9, 1936 in Nodaway County, Mo., the son of Charles Kenneth Moore and Hazel Grace

Wright. Ramon started rural schools in Missouri, moving to Bedford shortly after the start of World War II. He then graduated

from the Bedford Community High School in 1955.

After high school Ramon worked for area farmers until he was drafted in the early 1960's. He served in the Army, and upon his

discharge he worked the milk route, delivering around Taylor County for many years. He later worked as a custodian for

Northwest Missouri State University. Ramon also worked for O'Brien Brothers in Bedford and was employed by Burcliff

Industries in Corning. After the plant closed a few years ago, he enjoyed mowing yards and working part-time as a custodian for the

Bedford Community School.

Ramon enjoyed country music, bowling, playing cards, and being around people. Ramon's trademark was signing sympathy or

get well cards upside down. Most days you would see Ramon at the Skylark enjoying a glass of tea. He also enjoyed Monday nights

at Godfather's for their buffet and scratching lottery tickets with a group of friends.

Ramon is survived by many aunts, uncles and cousins.

Preceding Ramon !n death were his mother Hazel in 1978 and his father Kenneth in 1984.

Noer, Catherine Ann -

Celebration of life services for Cathy Noer, age 43 of Bedford, who died Monday, April 1, 2002 were held Saturday, April 13,

2002 at 1:00 p.m. at the United Christian Presbyterian Church in Bedford with Pastor Randy Allman officiating. Memorials can be

directed to the Hospice of Central Iowa or The Hope Lodge in Kansas City, Missouri. Arrangements were by Ritchie Funeral

Home of Bedford.

Catherine Ann Noer was the first born to Victor and Carole Noer, born October 12, 1958 in Evergreen Park, Ill. She attended

school in Burbank, Ill. until her family moved to Bedford in 1966. She graduated from the Bedford Community High School in 1977.

After sampling several jobs, she eventually found the right fit at the Taylor County Care Facility where she made friends in her

17 years there. Many friendships were also formed while she was employed at Gear For Sports.

Bowling was a favorite activity that Cathy excelled at. She enjoyed the years she participated in the Bedford Order of

Rainbow for Girls and the Optimist Club. She was a member of the United Christian Presbyterian Church.

She married William Thompson on May 29, 1999. Although short-lived; the marriage could not endure her battle with cancer.

Cathy's eternal life began on April 1, 2002 at age 43.

Left to cherish Cathy's memory are her parents, Victor and Carole Noer; sister, brother-in-law and niece, Caren, Carl and

Megan Scott of Lee's Summit, Missouri; brother, sister-in-law, niece and nephew, Victor Jr., Maria, Angela and Devon of

Bethany, Oklahoma; grandmother, Marian Noer of Batesville, Arkansas and special grandmother, Lois Scane of Bedford.

She will be remembered with love by all who had the privilege of being touched by her. Memorial gifts may be directed to the

Hospice of Central Iowa, Mount Ayr or The Hope Lodge in Kansas City, Missouri.

The family is building a flower garden as a memorial to Cathy. Anyone wishing to share a flower from their garden to plant

there is welcome to do so.

O'Riley, Roberta J. Kepner -

Funeral services for former Lenox resident Roberta J. O'Riley were held April 15 at the United Methodist Church in Creston with

Coen-Beaty-Pearson Family Funeral Service in charge of arrangements. Interment was in Graceland Cemetery.

Roberta passed away April 11 at Greater Community Hospital.

She was born Jan. 22, 1924, in Creston to Percy and Alma Hogenkamp Kepner. She graduated in 1942 from Creston High

School.

On Feb. 16, 1947, she was married to Harvey O'Riley in Creston. Prior to her marriage she worked at the GCII, Creston

News Advertiser and in Washington D.C. She then farmed with her husband in Spaulding Township.

She also lived in Cozad, Neb., Corning and Lenox, then returned to Creston in 1954. She was a member of the United

Methodist Church and Williamson American Legion Auxiliary. She was also on the advisory council of Southern Iowa Trolley.

Survivors include her husband Harvey of Creston; children Mark (wife Mary) O'Riley of Creston, Mike (wife Chris) O'Riley

of Ankeny, Marsha (husband Roy) Parsons of Creston, and Mary (husband Guy) Lowrey of Anita.

Preceding her in death were her parents; father-in-law Harry T. O'Riley; sister Maxine Montgomery; a brother, Max Kepner;

and a granddaughter, Misty West.

Stark, Zelma Leah Fletchall -

Zelma L. Stark, a writer and newspaper editor, died Sunday, May 5,2002, at the Lenox Care Center in Lenox, Iowa, at the age

of 94.

Zelma Leah Fletchall was born Sept 23,1907, near Allendale, Mo., the daughter of James Oscar and Leona Aresta Maudlin

Fletchall. She attended the Adams School, known as the Nation School, until the sixth grade, when she attended at Allendale.

She later shared an apartment with other rural girls to attend Grant City High School. She graduated as valedictorian in 1924.

She graduated with a state certificate to teach school and taught in the Fletchall District, staying with local families and

earning $75 a month. She later taught at the district to the east, staying with the John Motsinger family and attending

college at Maryville during summers.

In 1928, Zelma took a job at Citizens Bank at Grant City. She met Charles E. Stark. They were married in 1930 and had two

children, Charles, born in 1934, and Joe, born in 1940. Zelma canned food, sewed clothing and became active in church work at

the Christian Church in Grant City.

Zelma worked with Mrs. Emmet Wilson to collect material on Bible studies, which resulted in a book, "One Hope," published by

Standard Publishing Co. of Cincinnati, Ohio.

In 1948, Charley and Zelma purchased the La Plata Home Press in La Plata, Mo., and in 1952 purchased the Lenox Time

Table in Lenox, Iowa. Zelma worked as editor, reporter and ad representative at the two weekly newspapers. Zelma worked as

editor at the Times-Tribune in Grant City during 1981 and 1982. She received an honorable mention award in 1980 from the

Iowa Press Association for a feature story on retirement of a district judge in Iowa.

Charley and Zelma traveled to Washington, D.C., to act as hosts at the Pen Arts building, national headquarters of the

National League of American Pen Women, in 1966. Zelma served two terms as president of the Lenox unit of the American

Legion Auxiliary and received first place in the state for an essay in 1975, for a history book in 1976, and for an essay for

the Lenox Federated Club in 1985.

Zelma's husband, Charles Edwin, died in 1972.

She is survived by two sons; Charles and wife Ruth Jean Faubion Stark of Cameron, Mo., and Joe of Sheridan; two

grandchildren, Judith and husband Michael Peil of Silver Spring, Md., and Jesse Stark of Sheridan; and several cousins.

Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. Wednesday, May 15, at Coen-Beaty-Pearson Family Funeral Service Lenox. Burial was in

Grant City Cemetery.

Steinke, Marjorie R Beach -

Memorial services for Marjorie R. Beach Steinke were scheduled for April 9 at St. Mathews Evangelical Lutheran Church in Spokane,

Wash.

Marjorie passed away April 3 in Spokane, where she made her home for 25 years.

She was born Jan. 24, 1928, in rural Lenox to Clifford and Eula Beach. She was baptized in Lenox at the age of 13 and confirmed in the

Lutheran Church of Missouri Synod in 1948. She graduated from the Commercial Extension business college in Omaha, Neb. in 1946 and

was employed by the U.S. government until 1949.

Marjorie married Walter H. Steinke in 1948 in the Lenox Methodist Church. The couple was blessed with one son and two daughters.

She served her Lord as her church organist for 42 years, was active in the women's group and was a member of the Orchard Prairie

Homemaker's Club. She was also a volunteer "pink lady" for eight years.

She is survived by her husband Walter Steinke; son Dan Steinke of Oklahoma; daughter Kristine Tellier of Wisconsin; daughter

Charisse Willis of Loon Lake, Wash.; 10 grandchildren; a brother, Walt Beach of Dallas, Texas; and one sister, Josephine

Walter of Lenox.

Wood, Howard Raymond -

Howard Raymond Wood, 78, of Clearfield, Iowa died on April 27, 2002. Services were held at the Christian Church in Clearfield

on Tuesday, April 30. Officiating was Rev. Edyie Stephens, organist was Jean Huffinan, and pallbearers were Darin Wood,

Jared Mains, Quincy Brammer, Philip Wood, Aaron Brammer, Eric Wood, Brain Wood, Ted Copeland, Andrew Wood, Chris

Danielson and Kurt Danielson. Military Rites were provided by Woodside Post #97, American Legion.

Howard Raymond Wood was laid to rest at the Clearfield Cemetery in Clearfield.

Wilson-Watson-Armstrong Funeral Home was in charge of services.

He was born March 20, 1924 at Conway to Paul Raymond and Goldie Mae (Greer) Wood. Howard, better known as Tuffy

to family and friends, moved to Clearfield with his family in 1932, graduating from Clearfield High School in 1942. He enlisted in the

U.S. Army Air Force in 1943 and served his country until 1946.

In 1944, Tuffy was united in marriage to Mabel Elizabeth Gaule at Baton Rouge, La. He returned to Clearfield to work at

Duey Elevator until 1957 when he took a position with the post office, first as a clerk and eventually retiring in 1983 as the

postmaster in Clearfield.

Tuffy and Mabel raised their eight children in Clearfield. He was a loving and supportive father and husband. He loved baseball

and football, playing on the first unbeaten football team at Clearfield. He was a baseball coach to his sons, nephews, and many

boys of the community. Tuffy played baseball on the Clearfield city team as an adult. He enjoyed traveling, camping,

and with Mabel, they traveled south for the winters.

He was a member of the American Legion, Woodside Post #97 in Clearfield and an association of postmasters.

Howard passed away on April 27, 2002.

Howard was preceded in death by his parents; a grandson, Clint Jason Wood; and his brother-in-law Dean Lyddon.

Those left to cherish his memory include his wife Mabel of Clearfield; eight children, Jim and wife Kathy of Colfax, IA., Jerry

of Clinton, Iowa, Mary Mains and husband Grover of Clearfield,  Jeff and wife Cathy of Lenox, Linda Brammer and husband Al of

Clearfield, Johne and wife Anita of Colfax, Brad and wife Tammie of Colfax, and Lori Danielson and husband Terry of Creston; 21

grandchildren, 13 great grandchildren; his sister Pauline Rice and husband Don of Clearfield; nieces, nephews, and a host of friends.

Woosley, Shirly A -

Funeral services for Shirly A. Woosley, 74, of Creston were held April 29 at Holy Spirit Catholic Church with Father Leonard

Kenkel officiating. Interment was in Calvary Cemetery.

Shirly passed away April 26 at Greater Community Hospital.

She was born Feb. 8, 1928 to Henry and Minnie Krabiel Repplinger. She attended Orient High School. On Jan. 26, 1946, she

married Orval Woosley in Hiawatha, Kansas.

She was a lifelong Creston resident and was a member of St. Malachy's, Holy Spirit Church; CCW; and Lady Elks. She was a

nurse aide for many years at Greater Community Hospital.

She is survived by her husband, Orval of Creston; children Pam (husband Larry) Blakesley of Creston, Mark (wife Joyce)

Woosley of Indianola, and Michele (husband Howard) Buck of Altoona, brothers DeOle Repplinger of Indianola and Ronald

Young, Roger Scott -

A former Lenox resident was killed and three of his children - all Lenox school students - were injured Friday afternoon in a

two vehicle automobile accident on Highway 34 near Creston.

Fatally injured was Roger Scott Young, age 39, now of Creston. He was the son of Bill and Roberta Young of Lenox. Roger was a

former Lenox resident.

Injured were Hollie Young, age 14; Samantha Young, 12; and Curtis Young, 9. All are students in the Lenox Community School

District. Samantha was taken to Greater Community Hospital in Creston. Hollie and Curtis were flown by Life Flight to Iowa

Methodist in Des Moines. They were listed in fair condition.

According to the Union County Sheriffs accident report: The 1984 Oldsmobile driven by Roger Young was eastbound on Highway

34. He lost control of the vehicle, apparently overcorrected the steering, and entered the westbound lane of Highway 34. The

Young vehicle collided head-on with a westbound 1996 Ford truck driven by Lonnie N. Rasmussen, 47, of Prescott. The Rasmussen-

driven truck was hauling two anhydrous ammonia tanks. After impact the Young vehicle remained on the highway, while the

Rasmussen truck went into the north ditch with both tanks. The accident occurred about one mile southwest of Creston.

The mishap occurred at 4:25 p.m. on Friday.

The accident was investigated by the Iowa State Patrol with assistance from the Union County Sheriff's Department, the

Creston Police Department, and Creston Fire and Rescue.

Funeral services for Roger Young will be held Wednesday, April 24,2 p.m. at the Lenox Methodist Church. Interment will be

in the West Fairview Cemetery in Lenox, with military rites from American Legion Post 250. Ritchie Funeral Home is in charge of

arrangements.

Survivors include his wife Peggy their children listed above; and his parents, William and Roberta Young of Lenox.

Young, Roger Scott -

Funeral services for Roger Young, age 39 of Creston, formerly of Lenox, who died Friday, April 19, 2002 as the result of an

automobile accident were held Wednesday, April 24, 2002 at 2:00 p.m. at the Lenox United Methodist Church with Pastor Don

Frizzell officiating. Interment with military rites accorded by the Lenox American Legion Post No. 250 were held in the West

Fairview Cemetery in Lenox. Memorials can be given in Roger's name. Arrangements were entrusted to the Ritchie Funeral Home

of Lenox.

Roger Scott Young was born June 13, 1962 to William Young and Roberta O' Riley. Roger grew up in Lenox and graduated from

Lenox High School in 1980. As a young man he was the Manager for both the Baseball, Track and Football Teams at Lenox. After

graduation he entered the United States Navy where he proudly served around the world for six years. He carried that pride

after leaving the Navy.

Roger was united in marriage to Peggy Hashberger on June 9, 1984 at the United Methodist Church in Lenox. Three children

were born to bless this union, Hollie, Samantha and Curtiss. Upon returning from the Navy Roger attended Southwestern

Community College where he received his Associate of Arts Degree in General Education.

Roger and his family lived in various Southwest Iowa communities before settling back in Creston in the Fall of 2001 . As

a young man Roger was very active in the Church. He also participated in Boy Scouts for several years. He was a member of

the T.B.& C. Union from 1 995 to 1 997 and the V.F. W. of Bedford Education was very important to him and he enjoyed

attending school. Roger enjoyed counted cross-stitch, embroidering and knitting. Family was very important to Roger and

he enjoyed taking them camping and fishing. Having a great sense of humor is something that he will always be remembered

for. Roger was employed at Service Master for Gummi Bear in Creston as a Food Safety Tech.

Left to cherish Roger's memory are his beloved wife, Peggy; three children, Hollie LeAnne, Samantha Lynn and Curtiss Dale

Stephen; his parents, William and Roberta Young of Lenox; two brothers, Edward Young and wife Donna of Sunrise Beach,

Missouri and Gary Young and wife Wendy of Rolla, Missouri; an Aunt, Nila O'Riley of Lenox; Uncle Dale O'Riley and wife Sally

of Burlington, Iowa and many nieces and nephews.

Preceding Roger in death were both sets of Grandparents, his Dear Friend "Grandma Mildred", and two brothers, Jackie and

Jeffrey.
