Anderson, Kermit (Andy) Wendell -

Graveside services for Kermit "Andy" Anderson, age 78, of the Bushville/Lenox area,

who died Saturday, November 4, 2006, at his home were held Wednesday, November 8, 2006,

at 2:00 p.m. at the Grove Cemetery with military rites accorded by the Parkinson American

Legion Post No. 250. Memorials can be given in his name. Memories can be shared with the

Kermit "Andy" Wendell Anderson was born April 19, 1928 in Alcester, South Dakota, the son

of Kris Anderson and Elsie (Hemmer) Anderson. He grew up attending school in Alcester.

After school he worked on a construction crew until he was drafted into the United States Air

Force, serving from 1951 to 1959. Upon his discharge he was united in marriage to Pauline "Petunia"

Click on October 9, 1955 in Wyoming. After their marriage, Andy and Petunia eventually

settled in Vincent, Iowa where they took over a local tavern known as "Andy's Tap".

Together he and Petunia ran this business for many years where they enjoyed serving the local

community wonderful homemade food and drinks. While living in Vincent, Andy also worked at

the local co-op. In 1989, they decided to retire and purchased acreage in the Bushville /Lenox,

Iowa area. While living here they enjoyed raising livestock and chickens.

They were mostly known for raising exotic house dogs, which they sold. Andy was an avid deer

hunter and outdoors man. Together he and Petunia would look forward to their yearly trips

to visit their nephew Bob Workman where they would enjoy fishing together. Andy

loved being in his workshop where he repaired farm machinery.

Left to cherish Andy's memory are his loving wife, Petunia Anderson of the Bushville/Lenox

area; a sister Vennetta Lund of Eagle Grove; and a nephew Bob Workman and

wife Linda of Oklahoma and their children, Lacy; Amy and Andy, along with many other

relatives and friends.

Preceding Andy in death are his parents Kris and Elsie Anderson; a brother Dwayne

Anderson; and two sisters Neldred Prewitt and Lorraine Floyd.

Evans, Harold Keith -

Harold Keith Evans, son of Frank and Susan Reynolds Evans, was born June 25, 1920 at Creston,

Iowa. He was baptized and confirmed at the Methodist Church in Creston. He received his

education in the Creston Schools, graduating from Creston High School in 1939.

From 1942 to 1945, he served with The U.S. Army Air Corps in the Pacific Theater.

He was united in marriage with Artis Mae Akins at the First United Methodist Church in Hastings,

Nebraska. Harold worked in a grocery store in Lenox, Iowa. He then drove a bread and later a

candy delivery truck, and moved to the Sumner area. Prior to retiring in 1983, he worked for Meyer

Hardware and was a custodian at the Junior High School in Sumner.

A resident of the Hillcrest Home in Sumner, Harold's death occurred there on Monday, October

30, 2006, following a lengthy illness. He was 86 years old and had been a longtime member of the

United Methodist Church, where he served on the administrative council, was lay delegate to the

annual convention, and served as secretary/treasurer of the Sunday school. He also worked for

a time as the church custodian and was a lifetime member of Thomas E. Woods Post #223.

In addition to his wife, Artis of Sumner; he is survived by one son, Roger (Diane) Evans of North

Platte, Nebraska; three daughters, Garland (David) Moore of Oelwein, Judy "Jude" Knox of

Waterloo, and Joyce "Jo" (Jerry) Riker of Cedar Falls; eleven grandchildren; twenty four

great grandchildren; and one cousin.

He was preceded in death, by his parents; one brother, Harvey;. three sisters-in-law; one

brother-in-law; and several cousins.

Flick, Frances J -

Frances J. Flick, 90, died October 18, 2006, at Iowa Methodist Medical Center in

Des Moines. Services will be held at 10:30 a.m., Saturday, October 21, 2006 at Grace

United Methodist Church in Des Moines. Visitation will be from 9:30 to 10:15 a.m. at the

Church preceding the service. Interment services will be held Saturday afternoon at 2:30

o'clock p.m., at the Fairview Cemetery in Bedford, Iowa. Local arrangements entrusted

to Ritchie Funeral Home of Bedford.

Frances was born the daughter of Bruce J. Flick and Alice J. (Dunning) Flick on

August 17, 1916,in Maryville, Missouri, and graduated from Roosevelt High School. She

received a B.S. degree in forestry from Iowa State University and a Master's

degree in library science from Syracuse University. She worked in the libraries for the

U.S. Department of Agriculture and for the Animal Disease Laboratory in Ames. She

retired as the reference librarian from the University of Arizona in Tucson and returned

to Des Moines in 1981.

Frances loved her books, especially her book collection on the Civil War. She

believed in reading non-fiction only and enjoyed attending the live New York theatre with

her brother. She was politically astute and socially aware. Frances was multilingual.

Within the last ten years, she taught herself Arabic and Bosnian. She was a member of Grace

United Methodist Church, Suzannah Circle of United Methodist Women, P.E.O. Chapter Q,

American Association of University Women and Des Moines Women's Club.

Frances is survived by her niece, Charlotte L. Clark, of Jamaica, New York, and her

grandnieces, Carla M. Clark of .Tucson, Arizona, and Annette H. Kimball of Long Island,

New York. Frances was preceded in death by her mother and father and her brother and

sister, Robert B. Flick and Margaret D. Clark.

Glass, Dorothy Julienne Souder -

Funeral Services for Dorothy Glass, age 84 of Bedford who died Wednesday, October 11, 2006

at the Alegent Health Mercy Hospital in Corning were held Saturday, October 14, 2006 at

10:30 a.m. at the Ritchie Funeral Home in Bedford. Interment was held at the Fairview Cemetery in

Dorothy Julienne (Souder) Glass was born January 21, 1922, in Elm Creek, Nebraska, the daughter

of Samuel Francis (Mike) Souder and Anna Mae (Lunsford) Souder. When Dorothy was just one year

old, her family moved from Nebraska to Bedford, Iowa so they could be near many of the other

Souder family members. Dorothy grew up in the Bedford area attending school and graduating from

the Bedford High School. During her school years, Dorothy was very active in 4-H. After

high school, Dorothy taught in area rural schools. In May of 1942 she was united in marriage to Ray

Vernon Glass in Maryville, Missouri. To this loving union two children were born a son, Ron, and a

daughter, Jeannie.

After their marriage, Dorothy and Ray lived in Moses Lake, Washington where they did custom

farming. The couple moved back to Bedford in 1984 when they retired.

Dorothy loved to visit with family and friends. She was a member of the First Baptist Church in

Bedford and was also a member of several area clubs. She enjoyed flowers, sewing and doing arts

and crafts. When she was no longer able to live at home, Dorothy moved to the Bedford Nursing &

Rehab Center where she enjoyed many of their activities, especially Bingo.

Left to cherish Dorothy's memory are her son, Ron Glass and wife Paula of Bedford; a daughter,

Jeannie Moore of Salinas, California; six grandchildren; fifteen great-grandchildren; many nieces,

nephews, relatives and friends.

Preceding Dorothy in death are her parents Samuel Francis and Anna Mae Souder; her husband

Ray Glass in 1990; a granddaughter Lori Ann Moore; and an infant great-granddaughter, Erica

Brill.

Johnson, Barbara Jean Marxen -

Memorial services for Barbara Jean (Marxen) Johnson, age 55, of Linn Creek, Missouri

were held on Saturday, October 21, 2006 at the Hedges Funeral Home in Camdenton,

Missouri. Barbara died of cancer at her home on Tuesday, October 17, 2006.

Born January 1, 1951 in Greenfield, Iowa to Donald Leroy and Norma Ruth (Brown) Marxen,

she graduated Creston High School in 1970. Barbara worked in the dietary department at

Greater Community Hospital and then as head cook at several Creston restaurants including

the Williams Cafe, Shamrock Cafe and Bernings. In 1985 she managed her own business in

Orient, IA known as the Orient Tap, famous for her curly fries and home cooked noon specials.

She married Jerry Johnson and for the past 15 years they have resided in Linn Creek, MO

where she worked for the Hook and Hoof Restaurant in the heart of the Osage Beach

Resort.

Survivors include her husband, Jerry Johnson of Linn Creek, MO; mother, Norma

Marxen of Creston; Aunt, Esther Bucher of Orient; brothers, Stephen (wife Betty)

Marxen of Lenox, Robert (wife Connie) and Ralph Marxen of Creston; nieces Becky

(husband Mike) Smith of Lenox, Brandy Marxen of Creston and Brenda (husband

Tim) Njus of New Hampton and nephew Clint (wife Leah) Marxen of Atlantic.

She was preceded in death by her father and infant son, Donald Lee Driver.

Jones, Marcelene Mae Schuster -

Funeral Services for Mnrcelene Jones, age 78 of Blockton who died Wednesday,

Marcelene Mae (Schuster) Jones was born January 1, 1928, in Blockton, Iowa the daughter

of Cecil Carl Schuster and Garland Maude (Anderson) Schuster. She grew up in

Athelstan attending school where she and her sister, Maxine Alvarez, lived with their

granddad Alfred Anderson. They both enjoyed attending Sunday school. On February 3,

1947 she was united in marriage to William Henry Jones in Troy, Kansas. The couple

lived for a short time in Sheridan, Missouri, returning to Athelstan to make

their home, To this loving union three children were born, Linda Ilene, Kenneth Lee

and a stillborn daughter Retha Cheryl were born.

Marcelene loved attending the Holiness Christian Church in Athelstan. She enjoyed

gardening, often times planting more than she could handle! She loved being around

people and really looked forward to Sunday family dinners where the family ate a lot

of chicken, and was well known for always wanting to bake from scratch. The highlight

of the year for her was attending the Hopkins Picnic. She enjoyed listening to country

music and was always a protective mother with her children. Marcelene was

also known to "tell it how she thought it was" which was something her family found

endearing.

Left to cherish Marcelene's memory are her son Kenneth Jones and wife Jane of Hopkins,

Missouri; a step-son, Charlie Jones of Dodge City, Kansas; three grandchildren, Richard

Frampton, Curtis Jones and Megan Jones; and several step grandchildren and step-great

grandchildren.

Preceding Marcelene in death are her parents Cecil and Garland Schuster; her husband

William Henry Jones; two daughters, Linda Frampton and Retha Cheryl Jones at infancy;

and a sister Maxine Alvarez.

Larsen, Helen Nocton -

Helen Larsen, daughter of William T. and Nellie M. (Shelby) Nocton was born on

June 7, 1924 near Tarkio, Missouri and departed this life on October 23, 2006 at the

Clearview Home in Clearfield, Iowa.

She attended Westboro, Missouri schools. She was united in marriage to Glenn

Larsen on November 5, 1949. They lived in Clearfield most of their 55 years of married

life.

Helen and Glenn were very active and involved in the Clearfield community, for years

they helped with the shuttle buses at the Iowa State Fair, she was a school bus driver,

worked for Juergens Insurance, and cooked at Clearview Homes and the Clearfield Meal

Site.

Left to cherish her memory are her daughter Karen and husband Jerry Horton of

Richland, Iowa,  grandson Bob Horton of Fairfield, Iowa, Gary and wife Sara Horton of

Fort Wayne, Indiana and great grandchildren Trevor, Taylor and Samantha Horton all of

Fort Wayne; sisters Dorothea Larsen of Clearfield and Martha McRinley of Salida,

California; brother Marvin Nocton of Malvern, Iowa; brothers-in-law Jim  and wife

Eleanor Larsen of Decatur, Alabama and Carroll Polsley of Clarinda, Iowa; sister-in-law

Darlene Larsen of Diagonal; Iowa and many beloved nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, sister Ann Polsley, 5 brothers-in-

law, and 2 sisters-in-law.

Services were held Wednesday, October 25, 2006 at 10:30 a.m. at the United

Methodist Church in Clearfield, Iowa with Rev. Gerry Kahler officiating.

Burial took place in the Clearfield Cemetery.

Lewis, Mayme Gale Robertson -

Funeral Services for Gale Lewis, age 84 of Bedford who died Thursday, November 2,

2006 at her home in Bedford were held Sunday, November 5, 2006 at 3:00 p.m. at the

Ritchie Funeral Home in Bedford. Gale's body was cremated following the services and

interment of ashes will be held in the Elm Grove Cemetery in Washington, Iowa at a later

Mayme Gale (Robertson) Lewis was born in the family home on May 9, 1922, in

Washington, Iowa the daughter of Royal Robertson and Flossie (Thompson)

Robertson. She grew up attending school in Washington, graduating with the Class of

1940. It was during her high school years she met Robert (Bob) Lewis, who just

happened to be a star high school athlete, and their first date was after a big

football game in 1939.  Once during the basketball game Bob was up to shoot the winning

free throw. He looked into the stands, caught the eye of his sweetheart Gale, winked at

her, made the shot to win the game. And I guess you could say the rest is history! The

couple would continue to be sweethearts, even after Bob's National Guard Unit was

mobilized in January of 1941 prior to World War II. Bob and Gale continued their

relationship the entire time he served in Europe as a foot soldier in the Infantry. During

this time, Gale attended the University of Iowa, School of Nursing, graduating in 1943 as

a Registered Nurse. Upon Bob's discharge the couple was united in marriage on

October 12, 1947, at the United Methodist Church in Washington, Iowa.

Bob and Gale were blessed with the birth of four children, David Robert, Craig

Robertson, Mark Richard and Margaret Ellen. After their marriage, Bob attended school

to became a Certified Master Watch Maker. Together Bob and Gale would live in various

communities in the Western United States, eventually settling in Santa Ana, California

in 1965. This is a profession Bob enjoyed until ill health from Multiple Sclerosis

was diagnosed in 1978 and forced him into retirement.

Gale would continue to be a very loving arid nurturing mother, wife and nurse. She

worked in various hospitals in California and also very active as a Private Duty Nurse until

the late 1980's when she retired. Gale truly loved nursing and taking care of other people.

In 1986, Bob passed away and Gale continued to live in California where she enjoyed

chauffeuring her many friends around. She was always a very active woman who

enjoyed various artistic activities such as crocheting, quilting and painting. She was

a member of the Parkview Community Church and the Faith Community Church in

California. Always an avid reader, since her early childhood, Gale would continue her love

of reading throughout her life. She also enjoyed working with her rose bushes and doing

crossword puzzles and playing scrabble to keep her mind sharp. In her younger years,

Gale served as a Cub Scout Leader and enjoyed watching her children's sports activities.

Gale was such a loving grandmother. She truly enjoyed spending time with her ten grand-

children who brought her great comfort and joy. She was known to say "I have the best

grandchildren a grandma could have!"

Throughout her life, Gale was a strong woman who would often travel, sometimes

twice a year, driving from California to Iowa to visit her daughter Margaret. In 2005,

she moved to Bedford, Iowa to be near her daughter, purchasing a lovely home

where she enjoyed watching the birds, horses and cattle out her back window.

Crystal of Seattle, Washington; Craig Robertson Lewis and wife Inja of Temecula,

California; Mark Richard Lewis and wife Debbie of Petaluma, California; and Margaret

Ellen Mogler and husband Jamie of Bedford, Iowa; a sister, Wilma Mae Harbison of

Washington, Iowa; a brother-in-law, Bill Moorehouse of Chicago, Illinois; and ten

grandchildren, Samuel, Emily, Jesse, Jacob, Julia, Michaela, Charissa, Ethan, Siena

and Coralie.

Preceding Gale in death are her parents, her husband Bob in 1986 and a sister Neva

Jean Moorehouse.

Newkirk, Roy Dwight -

Funeral services for Roy Dwight Newkirk, age 84 of Shenandoah, formerly of

Bedford, who died Friday, October 27, 2006 at Garden View Care Center in

Shenandoah were held Sunday, October 29, 2006 at 2:00 p.m. at the Ritchie

Funeral Home in Bedford with Reverend Allan Bash officiating. Interment with

military rites accorded by the John F. Hardin American Legion Post No. 164 were

held in the Fairview Cemetery in Bedford. Memorials can be given in his name.

Roy Dwight Newkirk was born on the family farm north of Bedford, Taylor

County, Iowa on February 24, 1922, the son of Garret Roy Newkirk and Flossie

(Thompson) Newkirk. He grew up attending the Crum School across the road from

the family farm until graduating from the eighth grade. He then attended the

Bedford High School, graduating with the Class of 1940. In 1942, he was united

in marriage to Helen Ruth Damewood in Maryville, Missouri. In 1942, Dwight

enlisted in the United States Navy serving during World War II on a ship in the

South Pacific until the end of the war. After Dwight's discharge in December of

1945, he and Helen Ruth farmed the family farm for eleven years. In 1958, he

joined the United States Postal Service in Council Bluffs. In 1966, he transferred

to the Post Office in Shenandoah, retiring in 1984.

After his retirement, Dwight and Helen Ruth spent several winters in Arizona. Both

Dwight and Helen Ruth were baptized in the Christian Church in Shenandoah on

October 25, 1969. Dwight and Helen were blessed with the birth of two sons,

Larry Allen and Norman Lowell, who died at infancy.

Left to cherish Dwight's memory are his loving wife Helen Ruth of Shenandoah; his

son Larry Newkirk and wife Linda of Council Bluffs; two granddaughters, Jessica

Newkirk and Mikala Newkirk; three great-grandchildren, Ethan, Kassidee and Hailee;

a brother Don Newkirk of Branson, Missouri; and a sister, Ethel Mae Hanshaw of

Bedford; along with many other relatives and friends.

Pittelkow, Wilfried Otto -

Graveside funeral services for Wilfried Pittelkow, age 69 who died in Bullhead

City, Arizona were held Friday, October 27, 2006 at the Fairview Cemetery in

Wilfried Otto Pittelkow was born March 27, 1937 in Germany, the son of Dora and

the late Wilhelm Pittelkow. Wilfried lived his first 15 years in Germany, then in 1952

the Pittelkow family moved to Atlantic, Iowa.

On December 13, 1963 Wilfried was united in marriage to Karen Sue Hunt of

Maryville, Missouri. Wilfried and Sue adopted her niece Connie in 1981. Wilfried,

Sue, and Connie resided most of their lives in the San Fernando Valley, California.

Wilfried retired in 2005 from Reflector Light where he was employed for 27

years as a truck driver/machinist.

Wilfried loved his job very much. Wilfried enjoyed listening to country music

especially the Grand Ol Opry, playing cards, watching TV, and shopping. He was also a

huge L.A. Dodggrs fan! In  early 2006 Wilfried and Sue moved to Laughlin, Nevada to

be closer to daughter Connie and husband Mike.

Poznoff, Kevin M -

Kevin M. Poznoff, 44, of Topeka, KS, formerly of Leavenworth, KS, passed

away in Topeka, Monday, October 30, 2006. He was born on January

30, 1962 in San Jose, California. In 1971 the family moved to Bedford, Iowa

where Kevin graduated from High School. He then attended the University

of Iowa. Kevin later served his country in the U.S. Air Force and was audio

technician for the U.S. Air Force Band in St. Louis.

Kevin was a D.J. for KKLO Radio Station in Leavenworth, Kansas for

several years.

He was preceded in death by his step-father, Gary McNutt.

He is survived by his mother, Norma McNutt, Gower, MO, his father, Glen

Poznoff, West Palm Beach, Florida, sisters; Mamie Mitchell and Lori Heinrichs,

Plattsburg, MO, and Cassie Spencer, Bedford, Iowa, many family members

and friends.

His gentle and loving ways will be missed by all.

Memorial services were held Friday, November 3rd at the First Baptist Church,

Plattsburg, MO. Private Burial was held at Leavenworth National Cemetery,

Leavenworth, KS.

Rainforth, Catherine Sweeney -

Mass of Christian burial services for Catherine (Sweeney) Rainforth, age 74,

of rural Lenox who passed away on Saturday, October 21, 2006 at her home were held

Wednesday, October 25, 2006, at 10:30 a.m. at St. Patrick's Catholic Church in Lenox;

Interment was held at the North Fairview Cemetery in Lenox. Memorials can be

Catherine Jane (Sweeney) Rainforth was born June 28, 1932, in Conway, Iowa the

daughter of Frank Sweeney and Ellen (Leahy) Sweeney. She grew up attending school

in Conway and graduated with the Class of 1950. After graduation Catherine worked at

Mutual of Omaha Insurance Company in Omaha, Nebraska for several years. In 1958,

she graduated from St. Joseph's School of Nursing/Creighton University in Omaha

with a Bachelor of Science Degree in Nursing. Throughout her career as a Registered

Nurse, she worked at St. Joseph's Hospital in Omaha, Alegent Hospital (formerly known

as the Rosary Hospital) in Corning, Iowa and for the Taylor County Iowa Department

of Public Health.

On April 23, 1960, Catherine was united in marriage to Gerald F. Rainforth at St. Patrick's

Catholic Church in Lenox, Iowa. The couple resided in Sterling, Colorado for a year

before returning to rural  Lenox, Iowa to farm and raise a family. Catherine was active

in the St. Patrick's Catholic Church and the Chapter FW of the PEO Sisterhood. She

served on the Lenox Public Library Board; the Taylor County Board of Health; as a

Taylor County 4-H Leader; and as a volunteer for the Taylor County Extension 4-H

Services.

In addition to family, church and community, Catherine's interests included

reading, gardening, music, lunching with friends, and spending time with her children

and grandchildren. Catherine will be remembered in the way she touched many lives with

her warmth and wit. She had a way of making people feel at ease because she enjoyed

sharing in their lives. She was a compassionate friend.

Left to cherish Catherine's memory are her son Paul Rainforth and wife Brenda and

their daughters Paige and Bailey of rural Sharpsburg, Iowa; two daughters, Carol

Rainforth of West Des Moines, Iowa; and Joan Rainforth Jensen and husband Jon and

their daughters Kaylyn and Mikayla of Johnston, Iowa; a step-son, Larry Rainforth and

wife Helen of Lincoln, Illinois and their sons Vince Rainforth and wife Melissa and son

Cole of Yorktown, Illinois; and Lance Rainforth also of Lincoln, Illinois.

Preceding Catherine in death are her parents; husband Gerald in 1999; a son Robert

in 1987; a sister Margaret Sweeney and two brothers, William F. and George Sweeney.

Scroggie, Opal Valetta Gross -

Funeral Services for Opal Scroggie, age 87 of Bedford who died Sunday, November 5, 2006

at Alegent Health Mercy Hospital in Corning were held Wednesday, November 8, 2006 at

10:30 a.m. at the Ritchie Funeral Home in Bedford. Interment was held in the Conway

Cemetery. Memorials can be given in her name or directed to Vintage Park Apartments in

Opal Valetta (Gross) Scroggie was born April 15, 1919 in Onawa, Iowa the daughter of Alva

E. Gross and Cora Mae Gross. She grew up attending rural schools, living in Onawa until

moving to live with her sister in Benton, where she attended high school. While she

was attending a 10-cent movie show in Conway, she met her future husband, James Leonard

Scroggie. The couple was later united in marriage on April 15, 1939 in Corning, Iowa. Born to

bless this union were three children, Gary, Sandra and Ronald.

Together Leonard and Opal made their home around northwest Iowa where Leonard worked

for various farmers, returning to the Conway area. They later moved to Oklahoma where

Leonard worked road construction, returning to Taylor County and moving to Bedford in

1957 where Leonard worked for the Taylor County Road Maintenance Crew for thirty-three

years, retiring in 1976., During, this time Opal worked for Sickels Appliance Store and

later Shehan's Shoe Box. After their retirement, Leonard, and Opal enjoyed traveling

around the State of Iowa where they camped and visited with everyone they met.

Opal loved to crochet and was active in the Rebekah Lodge for several years. She truly

loved her family. She especially loved 'spoiling' her grandchildren. She had been a

member of the First Baptist Church in Bedford.

Left to cherish Opal's memory are her three children Gary Scroggie and wife Joanne

of Bedford and their children Gary Jr., Lea Ann and Mike; Sandra Helm and husband Jim of

Lenox and their children Stacy, Kristy, Kerri and Brian; and Ronald Scroggie and wife Tina

of Avoca and their children Terry, Angela, Schuyler, Brent and Dylan; thirteen great

grandchildren; a sister-in-law, Estle Dalbey of Maryville, Missouri; and a community of

friends.

Preceding Opal in death are her parents Alva and Cora Gross; her husband Leonard in 2003;

two brothers, Tony and Don Gross; a sister Helen German and a grandson Steve Scroggie.

Walter, Ona K Frazier -

Ona K. Walker, age 96 of Lenox passed away November 18, 2006 at the Lenox Care Center

 in Lenox, Iowa. Services were held on November 20, 2006 at the Graceland Cemetery Chapel

in Creston with Rev. Tim Maxa officiating. Coen Beaty Pearson Family Funeral Service of

Creston was in charge of arrangements for Ona Walker. Memorials may be directed to the

Ona K. Walker was born  March 12, 1910 in Washington, Kansas the daughter of Charles Daniel

Frazier and Bessie Olive McCulley. She graduated from Creston High School, Class of 1928.

She then attended Creston Junior College and received Normal Training. On July 3, 1938 she

was united in marriage to Billie Walker in Creston. She worked, as a clerk for Woolworth's

and the East End Grocery until 1960. Ona and Billie owned and operated the Sunny Shores

Resort in Grand Rapids, Minnesota. They retired to Clearwater, Florida.

She returned to Iowa at the Lenox Care Center in 1998.

She was a lifelong member of the Seventh Day Adventist Church in Creston.

She is survived by several nieces and nephews.

Ona was preceded in death by her parents, husband, Billie Walker; brother, Harry

Frazier; two sisters, Geraldine Kiesling and Patricia McMath.

Webb, Wiley Dee -

Wiley Dee Webb, son of Charlie D and Jessie Mae (Marshall) Webb, was born at

home, west of Lamoni, on October 9, 1929. Wiley graduated from Mount Ayr

High School and attended two years at Graceland College in Lamoni. Wiley lived his

adult life at Clarinda, Bedford, and Lenox, a resident of Taylor Ridge Estates for

several years. Wiley was a serious, educated man. He loved history and enjoyed trips

to the museum and historic places of interest. Wiley liked to tell stories of his

yester-years; his travels; his talks of jobs that he held as a young man with

farming being his favorite and autumn the favorite season.

Wiley played the piano, claiming never to be good at it, with "How Great Thou Art"

being his favorite song. Wiley collected a hat from each state visited. His favorite

color was blue and his outfit of choice was blue denim pants & shirt.

When going out to eat, whether it is breakfast, lunch, or dinner, you could bet it

would be hamburgers: and Dr Pepper! He spoke highly of his family and friends. He

cherished his class reunions and enjoyed talking of his memories of class mates.

Wiley passed away peacefully, but unexpectantly, on November 4, 2006 at Taylor

Ridge Estates. He was preceded in death by his parents; a brother Kyle and a

sister Thelma Adams.

Survivors include his sister Georgia Campbell of Mount Ayr; brothers Richard, of

Villisca, Gary of Jefferson,TX, and Dennis of Ft. Worth, TX; nieces, nephews, and

his dear friends at Taylor Ridge Estates.

Wilson-Watson andArmstrong Funeral Home Of Mount Ayr was in charge of

arrangements for Wiley.

Burial was in the Rose Hill Cemetery in Mount Ayr.
