Funeral services for LaVerne Donald Adkisson of Clearfield were held Nov. 2, 2002, at Wilson-Watson & Armstrong Funeral
Home in Mt. Ayr with Rev. Eydie Stephens officiating. Casket bearers were Delbert Routh, Jack Taylor, Harold Parker, Jim
Coins, Jerry Stephens, and Gaylan Bell. Burial was in the Clearfield Cemetery.
LaVerne was born on June 17, 1932, north of Diagonal in Ringgold County to Alfred and Marie (Johnson) Adkisson. He
passed away at the age of 70 on Oct. 30, 2002, at the Clearview Home in Clearfield.
On May 31, 1952, he married Mary Geneva Parkins at the Presbyterian Church in Clearfield. They became the parents of six
children; Jerry, Alan, Rodney, Tracey, Gordon and Lori.
LaVerne worked building high lines in Iowa, the Dakotas and Illinois. He later worked at John Morrell in Ottumwa, then came
back to the Diagonal-Clearfield area where he owned and operated a sawmill. He then stared the land improvement business that he
operated until he could no longer work. LaVerne also farmed for several years.
He was a familiar sight while running his heavy equipment. He also enjoyed WWF wrestling, hunting and fishing.
He was preceded in death by his parents; three brothers, Ernest, Cecil and Glenn; four sisters, Lillian Day, Doris Tomlinson,
Darlene Rogers and Minnie Belle Adkisson.
LaVerne is survived by his wife, Geneva of Clearfield; five sons, Jerry (wife Vanetta) of Bedford, Alan (wife Diane) of
Corning, Rodney of Knoxville, Tracey (wife Marie) of Johnston, and Gordon of Diagonal; daughter, Lori (husband Brad) Nelson
of Pella, and 15 grandchildren.

Anderson, Hubert -
Funeral services for Hubert Andersen, age 61, of Creston Iowa, who died Nov. 18, 2002, were held on Friday, Nov. 22, at
Coen-Beaty-Pearson Family Funeral Service in Creston. Hubert died at the Greater Community Hospital in Creston. Interment
will be held at a later date because Mr. Andersen was cremated. Visitation was one hour prior to service on Friday. The minister
conducting the service was Father Dan Siepker. Memorials can be made to the family.
Hubert was born on July 4, 1941 in Orient, Iowa to Peter J. Andersen and Thelma Spangler. He married Vicki Walker (now
divorced), in 1964 in Red Oak, Iowa. His occupation was a mechanic. He lived 17 years of his life in Creston, Iowa formerly
resided in Red Oak also.
Survivors include three children, Cynthia and husband Rick Goodnight of Corning, Iowa, Beth Anderson of Houston, Texas; three
sisters, Irene and husband Frank Ripperger of Lenox; Mary and husband Dave Headley of Creston; Alice Horn of Mt. Ayr. He also
has 4 grandchildren, step-grandchildren, great grandchildren, step-great-grandchildren, and great-great grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents and a grandson.

Buchanan, Sylvia V Adams -
Born June 14, 1913 in LaKemp, Beaver County, Oklahoma, the daughter of Harry I. and Lena Greenlee Adams. Her family
moved to Texas and then to Bedford, Iowa. She joined the Baptist Church in Bedford at an early age and then later
transferred Letters to the Christian Church Lenox, Iowa. In later years she became a member of the Holiday Hills
Community Church in Federal Heights, Colorado.
She graduated from High School in Bedford, Iowa in 1932. She began working in law offices prior to graduation and was a
legal secretary in Bedford and Lenox, Iowa and Westminster, Colorado.
Sylvia was very active in the community working with the Denver Cascade Ladies Club, where for many years she called
Bingo and kept the books for the club.
On February 18, 1935 she was married to T.C. Buchanan, in Denver, Colorado. They had two sons, Richard, born in Conway,
Iowa and James, born in Denver, Colorado. Richard married Marlene Van Orsdel, also a former Lenox resident, and they have
one son, Greg. T.C. preceded her in death, on August 22, 1981.
Sylvia's son, Jim, has resided the past seven years with his mother at 9715 Gull St., Denver, Colorado 80260, Enabling her to
remain in her home with Jim's caregiving.
Sylvia died on November 24, 2002 after a short illness. Her passing was peaceful. She will be greatly missed by those who
knew and loved her.

Bull, Iva Marie Wimer Adamson -
Iva Marie Bull, daughter of John Franklin Wimer and Rowena Weathers Wimer, was born August 1, 1946 in Des Moines, Iowa
and died November 30, 2002 at the Decatur County Hospital in Leon, Iowa at the age of 56 years, 3 months, and 29 days.
Iva grew up in the Minburn area and attended the Gardner School before graduating from Central Dallas High School in
Minburn in 1964. She was united in marriage to Ron Adamson and the couple were the parents of three children: Edward, Frank, and
Rena. The family made their home in Dana and later in Jefferson where Iva worked at the Jefferson Manor.
In September of 1989, Iva was united in marriage to Ken Bull and the couple lived in Des Moines. In the late 1900's, Iva moved
to Newton where she worked at the Maytag Blue Cheese Factory and in the laundry department of the Careage Nursing Home in
Newton. She moved to Leon, Iowa in 1999 and had most currently worked at the One Stop Shop in Decatur City, Iowa. Iva enjoyed
her family, gardening, and had been a Girl Scout Leader. She was living on the farm at the time of her death and enjoyed naming all
of their cows.
Preceding Iva in death were her parents and her son, Edward Adamson.
Survivors include her son: Frank Adamson and his wife Jenni of Scranton, Iowa; her daughter, Rena Pate and her husband Bob
of Boone, Iowa; and her companion, Albert Wheeldon of Leon Iowa; five grandchildren: Crystal, Cassidy, and Caytlyn Adamson,
all of Scranton, Iowa; and Mitchell and Cody Pate, both of Boone, Iowa; one brother: Dave Wimer and his wife Patricia of Dawson,
Iowa; one nephew: Mike Wimer of the Lake of The Ozarks in Missouri; one niece: Shari Nelson and her husband Rick of Kansas
City, Kansas; other relatives, and friends.

Copeland, Michael Ray -
Michael Ray Copeland of Lenox was the victim of a two vehicle accident on Nov. 26.
Copeland, age 30, died at the scene of the 5:48 a.m. accident, which occurred just west of Corning on Highway 34.
According to the accident report, the mishap occurred when a van driven by Earl D. Jones, 71, of Creston, collided
with the westbound 1985 Pontiac driven by Copeland.
One passenger in the van, Robert Crawford, 60, of Creston, was life flighted to Mercy Hospital in Des Moines
where his condition was listed as serious. The other four men in the van were treated in the Corning hospital and
released.
Road conditions attributed to the accident The highway was mostly snow covered with blowing snow at the time.

Funeral services were held on Dec. 2 at the Stringtown Community Church north of Lenox for Michael R. Copeland,
who passed away on Nov. 26 at the age of 30. Michael was the victim of a fatal car accident just west of Corning.
Survivors include his wife, Danielle Copeland of Lenox; daughters Marian and Reagen Copeland of Lenox; his parents,
Alvia Lee Sr. and Brenda Copeland of Chillicothe, Mo.; mother-in-law and step father-in-law Mary and Lewis Hogue of
Prescott; and father-in-law Stan Grimm of Tucson, Ariz.; brother Chris (wife Cindy) Copeland of Gravity and Alvia Lee
Copeland Jr. of Alabama;, sisters Misty Copeland of Kirksville, Mo.; and numerous other relatives.
Pastor Roy Cook officiated during the Dec. 2 funeral service. Burial was in North Fairview Cemetery in Lenox.
Coen-Beaty-Pearson Family Funeral Service was in charge of arrangements. Memorials are to the family.
Michael was born Oct. 17, 1972, in Phoenix to Alvia Lee Copeland Sr. and Brenda Syl (Wright) Copeland On May 11,
1991, he married Danielle DeAnn Grimm in Chillicothe. He worked for Precision Pulley in Corning as a bearing machines
for one year. Prior to that, he worked at the Precision plant in Lenox in the paint line. He worked for Precision for about seven
years. He lived in Lenox for about seven years and moved to the community from Chillicothe.
He was preceded in death by a brother, Kenneth Copeland, his paternal grandfather and maternal grandparents.

Deahl, Veldon -
Funeral services for Veldon Deahl, age 77, of Corning, were held Saturday, Nov. 23, 2002 at the First Presbyterian Church in
Corning. Interment was held at Greenlawn Cemetery in Afton. Memorials can be made in his name. Military rites were by Post
#117 Corning American Legion. The death occurred on Nov. 18, 2002 at the Alegent Mercy Hospital in Corning. The minister
conducting the service was Pastor Ken Rummer.
Veldon was born in Exline, Iowa to Clovie Israel Deahl and Cleta Fern Simmons on July 8, 1925 in Exline, Iowa. He graduated
from Exline High School with the class of 1942. He graduated from Simpson College with a BA in Education and
received his MA from IA State University.
He married Janet Stout on April 10, 1974 in Creston, and later married Shirlee Briggs on April 10, 1974. Following his
discharge from the military he taught school for a few years. He then was a principal for East Union High, Scranton H.S.,
Minburn and then Corning Jr,-Sr. High. He retired in 1987.
Veldon lived in Afton, Scranton, Minburn and had lived in Corning the last 30 years. He was a member of the First
Presbyterian Church of Coming and was active in community and church service.
Veldon entered the Army on November 1942 at Camp Dodge, and served overseas in Rhineland, Central Europe as a
Sgt. He was honorably discharged on May 4, 1946 at Camp McCoy, Wisconsin.
Survivors are his wife Shirlee Deahl; his daughter, Lin and husband James of Deahl-Coy of Ferndale, MI; Sons, Randy and
wife Sandie Deahl of McCallsburg, IA; Larry and wife Becky Deahl of Gravity; step-daughters Trace and husband Ed Bell of
Virginia Beach, VA; Kim Partridge and significant other Steve Gasper of Ankeny; Jody and husband Cletus Dixon of
Marshalltown; and Pam and husband Mark Moore of Boone; Brothers Bill (wife Twyla) Deahl of Exline; Clovie Deahl of
Marshalltown; David (wife Wanda) Deahl of Davenport; and Lloyd (wife Kay) Deahl of Manchester, IA; 10 grandchildren;
and many nieces, nephews, and other relatives.
He was preceded in death by his parents.

Harover, William (Bill) Champ -
William "Bill" Champ Harover, 74, of Texas City, passed away Monday, November 25, 2002, in Clear Lake Regional Hospital.
A memorial service was held on Nov. 29 in Texas City, and burial was in Lenox.
Born in Omaha, Nebraska on May 18, 1928, Mr. Harover lived in Iowa for most of his life. He graduated from Lenox High School,
then joined the Army and served in Japan. He graduated from the University Of Iowa School Of Pharmacy in Iowa City in 1953.
He operated a retail drug store in Mount Ayr, Iowa until 1980, and then worked as a hospital pharmacist in Mexico, Missouri.
In 1984, he moved to Texas City and worked at Eckerds, Mainland Pharmacy and the 4 C's Clinic pharmacy.
He and his wife, Kathleen, celebrated 50 years of marriage in 2000. They had four daughters: Cindy Tyler of Orlando, FL.,
Anne Yell of Texas City, Susan Greene of St Charles, MO., and Julie Ballard of Boca Raton, FL. There are two sons-in-law,
Mike Green and Bruce Ballard and five grandchildren: Laura Tyler, Travis Yell, Heather and Jeff Locker and Stephanie
Greene and Chase Greene. Bill had one brother, Dick Harover and his wife, Phyllis and their sons, Rich and Todd, and their
wives and children of Springboro, OH.
Bill was a man of deep Christian faith and was very active in St John's United Methodist Church. Wherever he lived, he
sang in church and community choirs. Music and books along with his family filled his life. His sense of humor touched all
those who knew him. He will be greatly missed.

Hartford, Gary Douglas -
Gary Hartford of Lenox died, wife Nancy is hospitalized, and a Creston man has been arrested as a result of a two-car accident
Monday afternoon near Creston.
Reports indicate that the accident occurred at approximately 2:30 p.m. on Highway 34 three miles west of Creston. Gary
Hartford was driving a 1995 Dodge westbound when the vehicle was struck head-on by a 1990 Oldsmobile driven by Rafael Oliva
Rodriguez of Creston.
Gary Hartford was pronounced dead at the scene, and Nancy Hartford was taken by air ambulance to the Iowa Methodist
Medical Center in Des Moines. At last report she was listed in fair condition and was suffering from numerous injuries, mostly to the
upper body.
Rodriguez apparently left the scene of the accident and was found in a field some four hours after the mishap. A man hunt for
Rodriguez included law enforcement officers from throughout the area, including Lenox, and volunteers on horseback. Rodriguez
was reportedly treated and released from the Creston hospital. He was being held in Union County Jail and faces a number of
charges, including failure to have a valid driver's license. His initial hearing was scheduled for Tuesday, Nov. 12.
Funeral services for Gary Hartford, age 51, were pending at press time. Survivors include his wife Nancy; sons Jason and
Trevor, both Lenox High graduates; and daughter Ashley, a sophomore at Lenox High.

Funeral services for Gary Hartford, age 51, of Lenox, were held Saturday November 15, 2002 at the United Methodist Church
in Lenox. Interment was held in the North Fairview Cemetery in Lenox. Memorials can be given in Gary's name. Arrangements
were by Ritchie Funeral Home of Lenox.
Gary passed away on Monday, November 11, 2002, as the result of an automobile accident.
Gary Douglas Hartford was born November 2, 1951 in Fort Meyers, Florida the son of Frederick Charles Hartford III and
Florence Mae Ruby Hartford. He grew up in the Naples, Florida area graduating with the Class of 1969 from Naples High School.
During Gary's school years he was active in both sports and academics.
After graduation, Gary worked various construction jobs in Florida. One day at a beach in Fort Meyers he met Nancy
Williams, a girl from Lenox who had moved to Florida shortly after high school. Two years later they were united in marriage on
June 2, 1974 at the United Methodist Church in Lenox. To this union three children were born, Jason, Trevor, and Ashley.
Gary and Nancy made their home in the Lenox area, except for a short time when they moved back to Florida. Gary worked at
Taylor Ridge as a Medical Aid. One of his favorite hobbies was cooking. He had a great sense of humor and subtle wit. Having
grown up on the beaches of Florida he enjoyed the water, loved bass fishing and boating.
Left to cherish Gary's memory are his wife Nancy of Lenox, two sons, Jason Hartford and Trevor Hartford, both of Denver
Colorado; a daughter, Ashley Hartford of Lenox; his mother, Florence Brown of Homer, Alaska; four brothers, Wayne Hartford
and wife Sandy of Santaquin, Utah; Larry Hartford and wife Roxanne of Pine Island, Florida; Dennis Hartford and wife Mozie
of Nephi, Utah; and Farrell Brown of Naples, Florida; two sisters, Donna Hartford of Altoona, Pennsylvania; and Felicia Brown of
Johnstown, Pennsylvania; maternal grandmother, Hattie Keffer of Napels, Florida; and his mother-in-law, Kay Williams of Lenox.
Preceding Gary in death was his father in 1981.

Leonard, Randall Gene -
Randall Gene Leonard of Corning passed away Nov. 9, 2002, at his home in Coming. He died at the age of 51 years old after a
battle against non-Hodgkins lymphoma.
Randall was a musician, composer, writer, lecturer and motivational speaker. Among his survivors is a sister, Kathy (husband
Ken) Leonard-Nelson of Clearfield.
He was born on Oct. 9, 1951, in Creston to Harold and Lillian (Thomas) Leonard. He graduated from Corning Community High
School and the University of Iowa. Residences included Corning, Iowa City, St. Louis, Los Angeles and Springfield, Mo. He
traveled extensively with his concert tours.
Randall was considered an innovator in the field of healing the heart with music. Designed to open the heart through emotion, his
music crossed the borders of entertainment to the medical and inter-denominational religious communities. He had six recordings
of original piano music. Sound and Spirit, Randall's recording company, has sold more than 50,000 copies of his music worldwide.
In the past decade, he has appeared before more than 50 congregations as guest musician, speaker and in concert.
A memorial service was scheduled for Nov. 13 at the Corning Presbyterian church with Pastor Robert and Shonda Deranleau and
Pastor Thelma Hembroff officiating. Arrangements were by Coen-Beaty-Pearson Family Funeral Service. Memorials may be directed
to the Corning Opera House.
He was a member of Astara United Church.
Survivors include brother Doug (wife Michelle) Leonard of Coming; sister Kathy (husband Ken) Nelson of Clearfield; nieces
Jennifer, LaDanya and Ashley Nelson of Clearfield and Ankna and Sara Leonard of Corning; and nephew Aaron Leonard of Coming.
He was preceded in death by his parental grandparents, Ray and Claudine Leonard, and his maternal grandparents, Hiram and Anna Thomas.

Miller, Gail LaVain -
Gail L. Miller, 65, of Stuart, Iowa, died after a battle with cancer on Friday Oct. 25, 2002, at his home.
He was born in rural Kent and lived in Kent, Afton, Des Moines, and Lenox, before returning to Stuart in October of 2001.
He retired as a Foreman for Wick Building Systems in May of 2002. He served in the U.S. Navy during peace time, and had
owned and operated several businesses throughout his life. Among them were the Stuart Speedway from 1971 to 1985,
Miller & Sons Construction Service, Inc., in Stuart, and several service stations and restaurants. He also farmed for
several years.
For seven years Gail put on a free Thanksgiving dinner for many in Stuart and surrounding communities. He enjoyed farming,
NASCAR, bowling, traveling, Belgian horses, horse pulls and his family and friends. He was a member of the Lenox and Stuart
American Legion Posts, Southwest Iowa Draft Horse Assoc., Lenox Stock and Saddle Club, Iowa Draft Horse Assoc., and the
Belgian Draft Horse Corp. of America.
Gail was preceded in death by his parents; a brother Dicky Miller; his second wife, Sharon; and a granddaughter, Daniele
Miller.
Survivors include his wife Cindy; his sons, Bill Miller of Tucson, Ariz., Bob Miller and wife Marie, of Clive, Iowa, Mike
Miller and wife Maria of Story City, Rick Miller and wife Marion of Stuart, and Dustin Miller of West Des Moines.; his daughters,
Michele Gray and Karilyn Miller Bailey, both of West Des Moines; his step-sons, Dan Kromrie and wife Ginger of Dexter,
Iowa, Chad Fane of Des Moines, Kurt Fane of Colfax, Iowa, and Craig Fane of Pleasant Hill, Iowa.; his step-daughters, Becky Boss
and husband Andy, of Stuart, and Jean McLaughlin and husband Greg, of Earlham; 16 grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; 11
step-grandchildren; five step-great grandchildren; his brothers, Donald Miller, Harlan Miller and wife Joy, and Allen Miller, all
of Lenox, and Edwin Miller of Bloomfield, Iowa; other relatives and many friends.
Funeral services were held on Monday Oct. 28, at the Stuart Mt. Vernon United Methodist Church with Rev. Robert Kersten
officiating. Music was provided by Kathy Moon. She was accompanied by Audrey Wells. Serving as casket bearers were
Kenny Vanlandingham, Rod Williams, Doug O'Brien, Keith Urquhart, Eugene Skellenger, and Daniel Cook. Honorary casket
bearers included Merlin Moon, Walt Hick, George Young, Virgil Buffington, Jim Belden, Lonnie Bench, Larry Sudbrock, Jim
Bisher, Arnold Schlichter, and Carrol Warden.
The committal service and interment were at South Oak Grove Cemetery in Stuart with the James C. McGhee American Legion
Post of Stuart providing Military Honors.
Arrangements were by Ruppert Funeral Home of Stuart.

Reimer, Philip L -
Philip Reimer was, born to Theodore J. and L. Grace (Hufnagel) Reimer July 13, 1927, at Lenox, Iowa. He died Nov.
8, 2002, at Riverview Care Center in Des Moines, Iowa, from complications of a stroke.
Phil graduated from Lenox Public School in 1945 and was a Navy veteran. He was married to Lois Hayes in Lenox and they
were the parents of three sons. They moved to Des Moines in 1951 where he retired after being employed as a shipping
foreman with Wilson Foods. They were divorced and he was married to June Schleicher in 1963 in Des Moines. They were
the parents of one son.
He was preceded in death by his parents, five brothers and a sister. Survivors include his wife June, sons Mark of Kentucky;
John of Florida; Paul of Newark, Ohio; and Matthew of Des Moines; seven grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; and sister
Murle Leonard of Coming.
Services and burial were in Highland Memorial Gardens Cemetery in Des Moines. Memorials may be made to Hospice of
Central Iowa. Grandview Park Funeral Home in Des Moines was in charge of arrangements.

Elda Mae Ryan, a longtime active member of the Lenox area community, passed away Nov. 1, 2002, at her home in Lenox. She was
87 years old.
Mass of a Christian Burial for Elda was held Nov. 5 at St. Patrick's Catholic Church in Lenox with Rev. Dan Siepker officiating.
Casket bearers were Matthew Ryan, Michael Ryan, Molly Ryan, Thomas Ryan, Shaun Ryan and Jenny Ryan. Honorary bearers were
Bill Beaman, Dick Brammer, Patrick Bradley, Jim Rychnovsky, Tom Lynam, Tom Shields, Tom Bradley and Frank Schweers.
Music was provided by Bonnie Halligan, Florence Robinson and Randy Trost. Burial was in Calvary Cemetery in Corning.
Coen-Beaty-Pearson Family Funeral Service was in charge of arrangements. Memorials may be directed to Catholic
Charities.
Elda was born on August 17, 1915, in Carbon to Arthur Frank and Bertha Caroline (Peterson) Lawrence. She graduated from
Corning High School in 1933. On Jan. 22, 1940, she was married to Leo Vincent Ryan during a ceremony in Corning.
She was a school teacher for six years at Mercer No. 4 in Adams County, and she farmed with her husband at their farm
south of Lenox.
Elda was a member of St. Patrick's Catholic Church in Lenox and served as president of the Altar and Rosary Society and the
DCCW. She was a 25-year member of the American Cancer Society. Other memberships included the American Legion
Auxiliary and Rose Anns Auxiliary (lifetime member).
She and Leo sponsored the Children in Need Help-A-Child program for 33 years. She served for five years, 1958-1963, as a
4-H leader. Elda and Leo were selected as Honored Citizens in their community and as King and Queen of the Lenox Rodeo.
Elda was a devoted wife, mother and grandmother.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband Leo in 1988; sons Dennis Ryan in 1941 and Joe Ryan in 2000; brothers
Russell and Frank Lawrence; and sisters Velma Rief and Anna Wilburn.
Survivors include three sons, Dan (wife Jean) Ryan of Red Wing, Minn., Mike Ryan of Sheridan, Wyoming, and Bob (wife
Susan) Ryan of rural Bedford; two daughters, Theresa (husband Guy) Hocking of Seabrook, Texas, and Mary (husband Jeff)
Turley of Omaha; six grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.

F.W. "Bill" Sweeney was born on a farm near Clearfield on June 13, 1926 the son of Francis Bernard Sweeney and Ellen
Marie Leahy Sweeney. He grew up attending school in Conway, graduating with the class of 1943. Bill served his country during
World War II in the United States Navy from 1944 to 1946. On April 24, 1947 he was united in marriage to Marjorie Alice Knodle
in Des Moines, Iowa. Five children were born to bless this loving union.
After Bill's discharge from the United States Navy he worked for two years in Des Moines. In 1949, Bill and Marjorie moved to
Stringtown area to begin farming. In 1960 they relocated northeast of Prescott. In 1999, after retiring from farming, the couple moved
to Creston. Bill served on the Board of the Clarinda Production Credit Association for over fifteen years. He was on the Prescott
School Board and was a member of St. Patrick's Catholic Church in Lenox.
Those left to cherish Bill's memory include his five children, Alice Reed of Creston; Larry Sweeney and wife Phyllis of Des
Moines; Kevin Sweeney and wife Debbie of Lenox; Shelley Pettit and husband Mike of Norwalk; Jon Sweeney of Prescott and
fiancee Carol Johnson of Ankeny; two brothers, Hubert Sweeney and Steve Sweeney and wife Sandy, all of Lenox; six sisters,
Florence Robinson of Lenox; Maureen Walton and husband Jack of Las Vegas, Nevada; Mary Evans and husband Dean of Dysart;
Catherine Rainforth of Sharpsburg; Francis Myers and husband Merle of Lincoln, Nebraska; and Carol Steininger and husband
Ron of San Leandro, California; a sister-in-law, Jean Sweeney of Lenox; two former daughters-in-law, Peggy and Debbie Sweeney;
a former son-in-law, Alan Adkisson; nineteen grandchildren; fourteen grandchildren along with numerous nieces, nephews and a
host of friends.
Bill was preceded in death by his parents; his wife Marjorie in 2000; a brother George; a sister, Margaret; three brothers-in-law,
Gerald Rainforth, Doyle Robinson and Dean Knodle; a sister-in-law, Juanita Sweeney; and a former son-in-law, John Reed.

Thompson, Burton Wayne -
Burton Wayne Thompson 85, died Wednesday, November 6, 2002.
He was born November 4, 1917 in Lenox, Iowa, son of Frank Arthur Thompson and Mary Barbara Schaffer Thompson. When
Burton was 13 his father passes away leaving him man of the house for his mother and brother. He was a strong, responsible
man his entire life. He remembered fondly his Uncle Albert and the many times spent on the family farm.
Burton served his country during WWII as a Sergeant in the Army-Air Force in England, North Africa and Italy from 1941-
1945.
He married Lucetta M. Curry on Feb. 17, 1945 in Iowa City, Iowa. They became a great item, raising three children.
After the war, he went to Bradley University in Illinois, finishing at the Elgin School of Watch Making. He opened a
jewelry store with his brother in Atlantic, IA. In 1956, he moved his family to Ogden, where he worked at Hill Air Force Base for
21 years.
Retiring from Hill, Burt and Lucetta spent their winters in Tucson where he enjoyed rock hounding, traveling, and their circle
of snowbird friends. His favorite times were spent boating and fishing with family at Flaming Gorge. These memories will always
be cherished.
Burton had a special relationship with children that carried through to their adult lives. He was called "Baba" by his
grandchildren and Uncle "Do" by his nephew, nieces and their children.
He was a caring person who spent the past two months at his wife's side as she recovered from heart surgery.
Surviving Burton are his wife; children, Gary W. Thompson; Nancy (Richard) McPhie; Lynne (Thompson) Fenske;
grandchildren, Weston, Melissa, Matthew, Randon, Sara, and JR; and a great-grandson due in December.
He was preceded in death by his only brother, Donovan.
Funeral services were held on Nov. 11, 2002 at the Trinity Presbyterian Church, 140 North Tyler. Services were under the
direction of Myers Mortuary in Ogden.
Interment was in Myers Evergreen Memorial Park where military honors were accorded. Condolences may be sent to the

Zeibig, Dominik -
Dominik Zeibig, newborn son of Stephen and Stacy Zeibig of Lenox, died October 17, 2002, at Clarinda Regional Health in Clarinda. Services were held Oct. 21 at Coety-Beaty-Pearson Family Funeral Service in Lenox with Rev. Dina Vittorio officiating. Burial was in West Fairview Cemetery at Lenox.
Memorials may be directed to the family. Coen-Beaty-Pearson Family Funeral Service in Lenox was in charge of arrangements.
Dominik was born Oct. 17,2002, at Clarinda to Stephen Keith and Stacy Kae Rehard Zeibig of Lenox.
Survivors include parents Stephen and Stacy Zeibig of Lenox; grandparents, Marlene Zeibig and Ron Darling, both of Lenox; Frank and Candy VanMeter of Boone; Sheila Stuck of Slater; Kevin Rehard of Cambridge; great-grandparents Nancy Stuck of Sheldahl, Marilyn James of Lenox and Phyllis Johnson of Creston.
He was preceded in death by great-grandfathers Sonny Johnston, Keith James and Gary "Pete" Stuck.
