Belding, Mervin Reed -

Services for Mervin Belding of Lenox will be held at the Larkin-Bender Funeral Home at 10:30 a.m. August 13.

Mr. Belding, age 67, died August 10 at St. Joseph Hospital in Omaha where he had been taken by Life Flight that morning.

Belding, Mervin Reed -

Marvin Reed Belding, the son of Floyd Belding and Lulu Bivens Belding Nicholson, was born May 13, 1914 in Taylor

County, Iowa. He died Monday, August 10 at St. Joseph's Hospital in Omaha, Nebraska at the age of sixty-seven years, two

months and twenty-seven days.

Mervin was united in marriage with Ruth Milliken Raines. One son, Clyde was born to this union.

Mervin had lived in California for many years where he was employed by the Douglas Aircraft Corporation. Following

his retirement in May of 1979, he returned to Lenox to make his home. He enjoyed traveling and spent much time taking

trips to all parts of the country.

Preceding him in death were his parents and a half-sister, Marceille Nicholson.

Survivors include a son, Clyde Belding and wife Helen of Lenox; four grandchildren, Rodney Belding and wife Joan,

Jan Reed and husband Tom, Jolene Gourley and husband, Dave, all of Lenox, and Denise Reynolds and husband Dave of

Durant, Iowa; five great grandchildren, Cory and Cody Reed, Shilo and Brooke Belding and Justin Gourley; his stepfather,

A. L. Nicholson of Lenox; and a half-brother, Alford Nicholson of Lenox.

Services were held Thursday, August 13 at the Larkin-Bender Funeral Home in Lenox at 10:30 a.m. Reverend Rex Logan of

the Lenox United Methodist Church officiated.

Music was by Roberta Lockhart. organist and Marilyn Beck and Diana Maharry, vocalists. Selection were "The

Old Rugged Cross" and "Beyond The Sunset".

Casket bearers were Rodney Belding, Tom Reed, Dave Gourley, Dave Reynolds, Jack Jones, and Jim Beck.

Interment was in the North Fairview Cemetery at Lenox.

Chumbley, Mary -

Mary Chumbley of Glendale, a sister of the late Sam Black and a former resident of the Lenox area, died Sunday, July 19

at the Allenvale Convalescent Hospital. She was eighty-four years of age.

Survivors include a son, Gene Boyd and wife, Anne, of Burbank and three grandchildren.

Interment was at Forrest Lawn Cemetery in Los Angeles.

Mrs. Chumbley was an aunt of Bessie Bubb of Lenox and also had a number of cousins who live in the Lenox area.

Dahlberg, Carrie Annie Butler -

Carrie Annie Dahlberg, the daughter of John C. and Annie Agler Butler, was born on October 14, 1892 in Ringgold

County. Iowa. She died at the Lenox Care Center on Tuesday, August 11 at the age of eighty-eight years, nine months

and twenty-seven days.

When she was six months old, Carrie moved with her family to a farm in Adams County, one-half mile north of the big

tree that marked the meeting of the four counties. She was baptized into the Prairie Star Presbyterian Church at the age

of eleven and received her Eighth Grade Diploma from the Prairie Star School. She also attended Lenox High School.

Carrie was united in marriage with Floyd H. Dahlberg on January 24, 1912 at the home of her parents northeast of Lenox.

Preceding her in death were her parents, her husband on October 7, 1957, six sisters, four brothers, and one half-brother.

Survivors include three daughters, Dorothy Pershin and husband Mack of Creston, Alice Reynolds and husband Robert of

Crown Point, Indiana and Ruby Bush and husband Lowell of Longmont, Colorado; ten grandchildren, ten great grandchildren,

two sisters. Nellie Peterson of Avoca and Mary Jane Jones of Oskaloosa. Iowa; as well as other relatives.

Services were held Friday, August 14 at 2 p.m. at the United Methodist Church in Lenox. Reverend Rex Logan, pastor, officiated.

Mildred Walter served as the organist. The congregational hymns were "How Great Thou Art" and "Rock Of Ages".

Casket bearers were Dennis Lutz, Mike Pershin, Mark Reynolds, Larry Reynolds, Steve Reynolds, and Jeffrey Lutz.

Interment was in the West Fairview Cemetery at Lenox.

Dunbar, Dick J -

Dick J. Dunbar, son of Edgar Clyde and Ethel Edna Beadle Dunbar, was born July 22, 1923 in Lenox, Iowa. He died at the

Maryvale Hospital in Phoenix, Arizona Sunday, June 28, 1981 at the age of fifty seven years, eleven months and six days.

He attended school at Lenox where he was an honor student and an outstanding athlete and graduated with the class of

1941. Following graduation he entered the military service and served overseas. During his military years Dick had made

many close friendships that have endured since. Following his discharge from the service, Dick worked as a mail clerk in

Kansas City and later he moved to Phoenix, Arizona where he worked for Safeway Grocery Stores. He was baptized in the

First Christian Church in Lenox as a young boy.

Preceding him in death were his parents, a sister, Maxine Schneider and his brothers, Donald and Lyle Dunbar.

Survivors include his brother, George Dunbar of Lenox, Iowa; three sisters, Lenore Bailie, Lenox; Olive Sutton of Ottumwa;

and Phyllis Brown of Phoenix, Arizona; a brother-in-law, Kenneth Sutton. and many nieces and nephews.

During his illness he was always so patient and grateful for all that was done for him.

Services were held Thursday, July 2. 1981 at 2 p.m. at the Larkin-Bender Funeral Home in Lenox, Iowa. Reverend Jack

Cutbirth, pastor of the Lenox First Christian Church officiated.

Military rites were performed by Lenox American Legion Parkinson Post #250.

Music was by Harley Allen Porter, organist. Selections were "How Great Thou Art" and "Just A Closer Walk With Thee".

Casket bearers were Richard Long, Terry Sutton, Kevin Dunbar, Richard Bailie, Michael Sertterh, and Michael Bose.

Interment was in the West Fairview Cemetery at Lenox, Iowa.

Levi, Richard Franklin -

Richard Franklin Levi, son of Jesse LaVern Levi and Velma Huntington, was born March 2, 1948 in Omaha, Nebraska. He

was killed in a motorcycle accident in Creston, Iowa on Friday, July 3 at the age of thirty-three years, four months

and one day.

He grew up in the Lenox area and graduated from Lenox High School with the Class of 1967. Following graduation he attended

the C & E School of Commerce in Omaha, Nebraska.

Frank enlisted in the United States Navy and received an Honorable Discharge after serving four years in Vietnam.

At the time of his death he was the owner and operator of the Detail Shop in Creston.

Survivors include his wife, Connie of Creston; two sons, Chad and Jeremy of the home; his mother, Velma Curry and

husband Don, Corning; his father, LaVern Levi, Bettendorf, Iowa; three sisters. Pat Rogers and husband Larry, Lenox;

Mary Anderson and husband Lou, Omaha, Nebraska; and Janet Reed and husband Greg, Cumberland, Iowa; and his

grandmother, Pauline Levi, Cedar Rapids, Iowa; four nieces, four nephews, several aunts, uncles and many cousins, and friends.

Frank was dearly beloved by those who truly knew him and will be sadly missed by his family and friends.

Services were held Sunday, July 5, 1981 at 2 p.m. at the Larkin-Bender Funeral Home in Lenox, Iowa, Joe Cook officiating.

Music was by Norma Paymal, organist. Military Rites were performed by the American Legion of Corning, Iowa OURCQ Post #117.

Casket bearers were Mike Eagan, Frank White, Harry Walter, Bill Stuart, John Wolfe and Gary Zabel.

Interment was in the Prairie Rose Cemetery at Corning, Iowa.

McClelland, Robert Groover -

Robert Grover McClelland, the son of John and Sarah Fergitt McClelland, was born January 5, 1885 near the Methodist Grove Community in Adams County, Iowa. He died on Wednesday, July 8, 1981 at the Rosary Hospital in Corning, Iowa at the age of ninety-six

years, six months and three days.

Bob attended school in Adams County and was active in the Methodist Grove Church and the Ivyville Church.

He was united in marriage with Artie M. Naven at the Presbyterian parsonage in Corning on September 15, 1909.  They moved to South Dakota where they farmed at several different locations before returning to Iowa in 1937. Bob farmed in the Ivyville, Lenox

and Mercer Center areas and was active in the Mercer Center Church.

Bob and Artie celebrated their seventieth wedding anniversary September 15, 1979 with an open house at the park in Corning where they were greeted by many relatives and friends.

Due to failing health, Bob and Artie held a farm sale in 1972 and moved to the Westgate Apartments in Corning where they made their home until the death of Artie on April 19, 1980.  Bob moved to the Lenox Care Center in Lenox, Iowa where he was residing at the time of his death.

Preceding him in death besides his wife were his parents, a brother and three sisters.

Survivors include many nieces and nephews who will remember his sharing from his garden and the wonderful memory that allowed him to tell interesting stories from the past.

Services were held Friday, July 10, 1981 at 11 a.m. at the Larkin-Roland Funeral Home in Corning with Joe Cook officiating.

Music was by Erma Fuller, organist and Doris Swartz, vocalist. Selections were "In The Garden" and "How Great Thou Art".

Casket bearers were Hollis Naven, Edward Naven, Ronald Naven, Norman Naven, Max Pool, Mick McClelland, and Emmett Bennett.

Interment was in the Prairie Rose Cemetery at Corning.

Miller, Homer John -

Funeral services for Homer John Miller, 72 of Lenox, were held Monday, July 20 at the United Methodist Church here.

Officiating was Reverend Rex Logan, pastor. Interment was at West Fairview Cemetery in Lenox.

Casket bearers were Frank Stanger, Gerald Schofield, Howard Stoaks, Jim Beck, Cecil Miller, and Steven Key. Roberta

Lockhan. organist, provided musical selections, "How Great Thou Art" and "Beautiful Isle of Somewhere".

Homer John Miller, son of Frank and Katherine Schafroth Miller, was born on January 9, 1909, in Adams County, Iowa,

and entered into rest at the family home in Lenox on July 17, 1981 at the age of seventy-two years, six months and eight days.

Homer attended school in Adams County and was a member of the United Methodist Church in Lenox.

On December 19, 1934, he was united in marriage with Clara Marie Key at Creston. One daughter, Helen, was born to

bless this marriage. Homer and Marie farmed in the Stringtown, Kent, and Lenox areas until moving into Lenox after retiring.

Those preceding him in death were his mother and father; two brothers, Albert and Lyle Miller; one sister, Margaret

Curts: two sisters-in-law, Inez and Edith Miller; and his brother-in-law, Cleo Stoaks.

Homer is survived by his wife Marie of Lenox: his daughter, Helen Belding and husband Clyde of Lenox; four grandchildren, Rodney Belding and wife Joan, Jan Reed and husband Tom, Jolene Gourley and husband Dave, all of Lenox, and Denise Reynolds and

husband Dave of Hampton, Iowa; five  great grandchildren, Cora and Cody Reed, Shilo and Brooke Belding and Justin Gourley.

In addition, five sisters, Edna (Mrs. George) Starks, Hazel Stoaks, Lela (Mrs. Bud) Spoonemore, Wilma (Mrs. Richard) Gray, and Alberta (Mrs. James) Calvin, all of Lenox: and four brothers. Harry and wife Edith, Raymond and wife, Francis, Clyde and wife Opal, all of

Lenox; and Frankie and wife Catherine, of Fairfield Bay, Arkansas, a sister-in-law, Pauline Miller of Lenox and by many nieces and

nephews, other relatives and friends.

Homer adored his family and they will remember warmly the visit with his little great grandchildren that he enjoyed so much.

Farming was his enjoyment in life, and he will be remembered as one always ready to help when someone needed him.

Nevill, Roth B -

Roth B. Nevill, son of J. A. (Bert) and Rose Doherty Nevill, was born in Ringgold County, Iowa near the town of Clearfield

on April 25, 1902. He died at the Greater Community Hospital in Creston on Sunday morning, July 26 at the age of

seventy-nine years, three months and one day.

Roth spent his early childhood at Argyle in Lee County, Iowa and attended Hillside School in Ringgold County.

He was united in marriage with Esther Ruth Cole of Diagonal, Iowa on March 7, 1923 at Creston. The couple made their home in Clearfield where they became an active part of the community.

Roth operated the Clearfield Ice Company and clerked at Harriman's Grocery during the 1920's. He then operated a

dairy farm, hand milking his cows and delivering raw milk to homes and business places. He later worked with Dr. A. J.

Abarr, Clearfield veterinarian, before becoming an employee of Spurrier Service Station in Clearfield in 1942. His health

forced him to retire in June of 1980.

Roth entered the Clearview Nursing Home at Clearfield in December of 1980 and then moved to an apartment in Creston in early June. He was a patient in the hospital for observation and tests, however, his death was quite sudden.

Preceding him in death were his beloved wife, Ruth in June of 1979, his parents and a son-in-law, Marvin Gaule.

Survivors include his daughters, Eula Jean Gaule of Mt. Ayr, Verla Dean Main and husband, Houston of Amarillo, Texas, and Rosalie Hamilton and husband, James of Creston; eight grandchildren and five great grandchildren, Mr. and Mrs. Ellis Main and Brent of

Amarillo. Texas, Mr. and Mrs. Bill Beadel, Gina and Bob of Lenox, Mr. and Mrs. Curtis Gaule, Shane and Shilah of Broomfield, Colorado. Betty Gaule, Joni Azad, Steve Hamilton, Mr. and Mrs. John Hayes, Mr. and Mrs. Mike Merhoth, all of Creston; two sisters. Lola Knox of Lenox and Reva Parkhurst and husband, Will of Clearfield, several in-laws, nieces, nephews, and cousins.

Roth was a loving husband and father. He took great pride in each of his grandchildren. A true gentleman, he was always

willing to lend a hand wherever help was needed. He will be missed by all who knew him.

Services were held Wednesday, July 29 at the United Methodist Church in Clearfield at 1:30 p.m. Pastor Kevin Hoffman officiated.

Music was by Patty Parrish, organist, and Carol Ann Kinder, vocalist.

Casket bearers were Richard Spurrier, Gilbert Shaffer, Willis Wurster, John Combs, Vernie Horton, and Ivan Bennett.

Interment was in the Clearfield Cemetery at Clearfield.

Wilson-Watson Service of Clearfield was in charge of arrangements.

Poore, Joanna May Williams Nelson Henry -

Joanna May Poore, daughter of Squire E. and Joanna Brown Williams, was born May 25, 1888 in Chariton County, Missouri. She died at the Lenox Care Center in Lenox on Wednesday, July 10, 1981 at the age of ninety three years, one month and fifteen days.

She was united in marriage with Elvie Nelson September 13, 1911 at Corning, Iowa. After his death Joanna was united in

marriage with George Henry August 26, 1925 at Chillicothe, Missouri. Following his death she was united in marriage with

Ralph Poore January 7, 1948 at Lenox, Iowa.

Joanna grew up with her family in Missouri and Iowa and was a member of the First Christian Church in Lenox for many years. When her health failed, she entered the Lenox Care Center and had made her home there for almost ten years.

Preceding her in death were her husband Ralph; her parents; seven brothers and one sister and one step-sister; and a daughter, Lola May, who died in infancy.

Survivors include three stepdaughters, Betty Boylan, Des Moines, Iowa; Oleta Hickman, Chariton, Iowa; and Ruby Waffle of Aurora, Colorado; and one step-son, Glen Poore of Osceola, Iowa; three sister-in-laws, Mrytle Williams, Clarinda; Ethel Nelson, Lenox; and

Esther Nelson, Creston; many nieces, nephews, other relatives, friends and neighbors.

Services were held Monday, July 13, 1981 at 10:30 a.m. at the Larkin-Bender Funeral Home in Lenox, Iowa. Reverend Jack Cutbirth officiated. Music was provided by Norma Paymal, organist and Mildred Walter, vocalist. Selections were "Precious Memories"

and "Mansion Over The Hilltop".

Casket bearers were Richard Fitzgerald, Ronnie Nelson, Bud Carey, Marvin Reed, Duane Huber, and Dale Nelson.

Interment was in the West Fairview Cemetery at Lenox, Iowa.

Rice, Daisy Nadine Huntsman -

Daisy Nadine Rice, the daughter of Ethen E. and Thurza Janetta Carolina Buchanan Huntsman, was born August 26, 1922 in Douglas

County, Missouri. She died at the Rosary Hospital in Corning. Iowa on Sunday, August 2 at the age of fifty-eight years, eleven

months and six days.

Daisy moved to Iowa with her family at the age of nine. They made their home in the Afton and Arispe areas until 1941

when they moved south of Clearfield.

She was united in marriage with Lewis Rice following World War II on November 24, 1946 at the Clearfield Methodist

Church. The couple moved to the present home south of Lenox in 1948.

Daisy will be remembered as loving and caring wife and mother who took a special pride in her grandchildren.

Preceding her in death were her parents, two brothers, Nolan Huntsman of Afton and Lowell Huntsman of Creston.

Survivors include her husband, Lewis of Lenox; a son, Jim and wife, Linda; two daughters, Joy Miller and husband, Harlan and Beverly

Lucas and husband, Rod, all of Lenox: six grandchildren, Michael and Diana Miller, James and Jason Rice and Gary and Kurtis Lucas; a brother, Earl Huntsman of St. Joseph, Missouri, two sisters, Peggy Kountz of St. Joseph, Missouri and Opal Cone of Afton; as well

as other relatives.

Services were held Wednesday, August 5 at 1:30 p.m. at the United Methodist Church in Lenox. Reverend Kevin Hoffman,

pastor of the Sharpsburg United Methodist Church officiated.

Norma Paymal served as the organist. The selection was "How Great Thou Art".

Casket bearers were Dick Brammer, Fred Scott, Mack McCall, Charlie Huss, Raymond Brown, and Leonard Ratliff.

Interment was in the North Fairview Cemetery at Lenox.

Scurlock, Linda Louise Rokey -

Linda Scurlock, 37, of Topcka, Kansas, was killed Friday night in the Hyatt Regency Hotel at Kansas City. Linda, sister of

Mary Boltinghouse of Lenox, was one of four members of a well-known six-woman mariachi band who died as a result of two

balconies collapsing in the hotel.

Survivors include two sisters and two brothers; her mother; and two young sons, Clifton and Scott. Services were held

Tuesday morning in Sabetha, Kansas.

An educational fund is being established for her two sons. Contributions may be given to the Jim Boltinghouse family of Lenox.

Scurlock, Linda Louise Rokey -

Linda Louise Rokey Scurlock of Topeka, Kansas, the youngest child of Andrew P. and Mary Kathryn Noble Rokey, was born September 6, 1944 at St. Anthony-Murdock Memorial Hospital in Sabetha, Kansas. She died July 17, 1981 at the age of thirty-six years, ten months

and eleven days.

Linda was killed in the disaster at the Hyatt Regency Hotel in Kansas City, Missouri when two skywalks collapsed. She was at the hotel to play an engagement with the Mariachi Estrella de Topeka. Other band members killed were Dolores Carmona, Connie Alcala and

Dolores Galvan, all of Topeka.

Linda attended school at Albany rural school until the third grade when she moved with her family into Sabetha. She finished her education in the Sabetha schools graduating from high school in 1962. She attended Emporia State  University in Emporia, Kansas

and graduated from Washburn University in Topeka with a Bachelor of Science degree in accounting.

Linda was united in marriage with Roger W. Scurlock October 4, 1968 in Auburn. Nebraska Two sons, Clifton and Scott

were born to this union.

She had been employed for several years by Santa Fe Railways as a claims processor.

Preceding her in death was her father on October 18, 1980.

Survivors include her two sons, Clifton Thomas and Scott Richard; her mother, Kathryn Rokey of Sabetha; two brothers,

Richard and wife Pat of Topeka, Larry and wife Marie of Sabetha; two sisters, Andrea Clark and husband Ralph of Topeka, Mary and husband Jim of Lenox. Iowa; ten nephews, three nieces, as well as uncles, aunts and other relatives.

Services were held Tuesday, July 21 at 10:30 a.m. at Popkess Mortuary in Sabetha. The Reverend Peter Jaramillo, Augustinian

Order of the Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church in Topeka officiated.

Music was by Iola Popkess, organist and Ruth Kellenberger, vocalist. The vocal selection was "Amazing Grace".

Casket bearers were nephews Larry Dwaine Rokey, Tracy Rokey, Brad Clark, Craig Clark, Jim Boltinghouse, and David

Boltinghouse. Honorary bearers were nephews Gary Rokey, Judd Rokey, Kevin Rokey, and Sean Rokey.

Interment was in the Sabetha cemetery.

Families of the other Mariachi members killed requested that Linda be a part of the services held at Our Lady of Guadalupe

Catholic Church in Topeka on Monday. July 20 at 9 a.m. Wake services were held Sunday, July 19 at the church.

A memorial fund for the Linda Rokey Scurlock Scholarship Fund has been established. Contributions may be left with

Popkess Mortuary of Sabetha or Brennans of Topeka.

Strong, Grace Elizabeth Pfander Miller -

Grace Elizabeth Strong, daughter of William H. and Ollie E. Pfander, was born at Clarinda. Iowa in Page county

on September 5, 1895. She died Friday, July 24 at the Lenox Care Center at the age of eighty-five years, ten months

and nineteen days.

Grace and her family were residents of Sharpsburg. She attended public school there and was baptized at the Presbyterian

Church in Sharpsburg on January 5, 1913.

She was united in marriage with Port I. Miller on October 25, 1913 in Bedford, Iowa. The couple resided in Sharpsburg.

On September 6. 1953, Grace was united in marriage with Earl Strong of Bedford.

Preceding her in death were her parents, her husbands, three sisters, one brother, a son, Raymond, a stepdaughter, and

a grandson.

Survivors include a daughter, Lola Million and husband, Arnold of Villisca; five sons, Leo Miller and wife, Naomi of

Minneapolis. Minnesota, C. Marvin Miller and wife, Veda of Lenox, Edwin Miller and wife, Marlene of Bedford, Elvin Miller and

wife, Mary Lou of Sharpsburg, and Howard Miller and wife, Darlene of Savannah, Missouri; six stepchildren, Iola Thomas of

Shenandoah, Hazel Brown and husband, Frances of Bedford, Lester Strong and wife, Thelma of Gravity, Wayne Strong and wife, Katherine of Bedford, Betty Ann Pfander and husband, Horace of Fort Collins, Colorado, and Dale Strong and wife, Beverly of

Omaha. Nebraska; two brothers, Ira Pfander and wife, Pearl of Creston and Cloyd Pfander and wife, Neva of Bedford; a sister, Myrtle

Hartshorn of Bedford; a sister-in-law, Martha Pfander of Bedford; twenty-six grandchildren, fifty-two great grandchildren,

eight great great grandchildren, as well as other relatives.

Grace will be remembered as a kind and considerate mother and will be missed by all who knew and loved her.

Services were held Tuesday, July 28 at the Shum-Novinger Funeral Home in Bedford. Reverend Carl Cummings officiated.

Music was by Mildred Stacy, organist and Verneil Stephens, soloist. Selections were "How Great Thou Art" and "God's

Tomorrow".

Casket bearers were her grandsons Dennis Miller, Jim Christensen, Joey Miller, Lonnie Russell, Gary Miller, and

Darrell Miller.

Interment was in the Washington Cemetery at Gravity.

Thomas, Minnie Bertha Tucker Weese -

Minnie Bertha Tucker Weese Thomas, the daughter of Jesse and Julia Tucker, was born October 12, 1889 in Des Moines,

Iowa. She died Friday, July 31 at the Lenox Care Center at the age of ninety-one years, nine months and nineteen days.

She moved with her family to a farm near Grant City, Missouri when she was seven years old. Minnie was baptized

at the age of thirteen in Grand River, Iowa.

On October 14, 1906, she was united in marriage with Enoch H. Weese at Grant City, Missouri. He died November 30, 1942.

Minnie was united in marriage with Roy Thomas at Wilton Junction, Iowa on October 29, 1950. He died March 14, 1977.

Preceding her in death were her parents, four brothers, two sisters, her husbands, Enoch and Roy, and three sons, Albert

Weese, Kenneth Weese and Calvin Weese.

Survivors include three sons, W. B. Weese of Blockton, Herbert Weese of Winterset and Edgar Weese of Lenox; four

daughters, Jessie Norton of Willow Springs, Missouri, Edna Key of Blockton, Violett Woods of Lenox and Madelyn Loghry

of Osceola; thirty-six grandchildren, ninety-six great grandchildren, twenty-three great great grandchildren, and other relatives.

Services were held Monday, August 3 at the Larkin-Bender Funeral Home in Lenox at 1 p.m. Reverend Jack Cutbirth officiated.

Musis was by Norma Paymal, organist, and Marilyn Beck and Billie Jean Barker, vocalists. Selections were "Beyond The

Sunset" and "Safe In The Arms Of Jesus".

Casket bearers were Stanley Weese, Dean Weese, Larry Woods, Louis Key, Denny Loghry and Eddie Weese.

Interment was in the Isadore Cemetery at Isadore, Missouri.

Wollenberg, Virginia Elder -

Virginia E. Wollenberg, the daughter of Gladys Elder and the late Gordon Elder of Lenox, died Wednesday, August 5 at

the Medical Center in Independence, Missouri.

Survivors include her husband, Thomas Rea Wollenberg; a son, Lawrence E. Waters of Belton; her mother, Gladys

Elder and a brother, Howard Elder, both of Lenox.

Services were held Saturday, August 8 at 10 a.m. at Carson's Independence Chapel.

Interment was in the Mount Washington Cemetery.

Woods, Violett Imogene Weese -

Violett Imogene Woods, the daughter of Enoch E. and Minnie Bertha Tucker Weese, was born in Worth County, Missouri

July 14, 1915. She died at the Iowa Methodist Care Center in Des Moines Thursday, August 6 at the age of sixty-six

years and twenty-two days.

Her childhood was spent in the Worth County, Missouri area.

Violett was united in marriage with Benjamin Franklin Woods on October 6, 1932 in Worth County.

Preceding her in death were her father, her mother on July 31, 1981. her husband, Ben on August 13, 1980 and three brothers.

Survivors include her children, Verla Coulthard and husband Alvin of Cedar Falls, Iowa. Helen Lawrence and husband Robert of Stuart, Iowa, Larry Woods and wife Shirley of Creston, Ben F. Woods, Jr. and wife Delores of Bradford, Tennessee, Duane Woods and

wife Victoria of Massena, Iowa, and Patricia Hingeley and husband William of Clearfield; seventeen grandchildren, eight

great grandchildren, three brothers, Edgar Weese of Lenox, W. B. Weese of Blockton, Iowa, and Herbert Weese of Winterset,

Iowa; three sisters, Jessie Norton of Willow Springs, Missouri, Edna Key of Blockton, and Madelyn Loghry of Osceola; as well as other

relatives.

Services were held Saturday, August 8 at 2 p.m. at Larkin-Bender Funeral Home in Lenox. Pastor Jack Cutbirth of the First

Christian Church officiated. Harley Allen Porter served as the organist.

Casket bearers were Dean Schuster, Lewis Key, Stanley Weese, Dean Weese, Denny Loghry, and Michael Bennett.

Interment was in the Athelstan Cemetery at Athelstan, Iowa.
