VanHorn, George - Funeral services for George VanHorn, longtime Taylor County resident were held Sunday (Jan 12) at New Market Church of Christ with Clarence M. Potter officiating. Mr VanHorn died at the age of 87 years, one month, and 21 days. Burial was at Dallas Center Cemetery, Taylor county, Iowa. Included in the services was the following obituary: George Roy Vanhorn was born in Louisa County, Iowa, on November 19, 1876. He was the son of William and Isabelle Rippey Vanhorn. On March 18, 1903 he was married to Cora Wirth at her parents' home northeast of New Market. To this union, one son was born. The couple have lived in the area of New Market all their lives. George is survived by his wife; son, Lester of Greeley, Colo.; a granddaughter, Marilyn Reser of Colorado Springs, Colo; two sisters and one brother, Mrs Orlena Johnson of MtVernon, Iowa, Mrs Bessie Fulton of Zanesville, Ohio, and Lee of Colville, Washington. Long will his family, neighbors and friends remember George as an honorable citizen, husband, father and neighbor.
 
Van Horn, Cora Mae Wirth, daughter of Charles Wirth and Elizabeth Letterman, was born 17 Apr 1880 in Dallas twp, Taylor co, Iowa. She married George Roy VanHorn 18 Mar 1903 in Dallas twp, Taylor co. She died 20 Aug 1969 in Clarinda, Iowa. Buried in Dallas Center.

Graveside Memorial Services for Cliff Valentine, age 55
of Bedford / Gravity who died Wednesday, June 8, 2005
were held Saturday, June 11, 2005 at 11:00 a.m. at the
Washington Cemetery in Gravity.  Memorials can be

Clifford Valentine was born March 23, 1950, to Delbert
Wayne Valentine and Lois Irene (Huntington) Valentine. 
He grew up attending country schools and graduated
from the Bedford High School with the Class of 1968. 
After graduation Cliff began farming on the family farm
where he continued to live until his death.  He raised
sweet corn and usually gave it all away.  He also loved to
fish.  Over the years Cliff and his father shared a love for
motorcycles.  Cliff was a tenderhearted man who enjoyed
doing things to help others.

Left to cherish Cliff's memory are his sister Renee
Owens and husband Chuck of Bellevue, Nebraska; a
nephew Mark Owens of Grapevine, Texas; five aunts,
Jean McAlpin of Clarinda; Selma Lucas, Velma Levi and
Louise Mitchell of Lenox; and Frances Livingston of
Fort Smith, Arkansas; along with many friends.
 
Preceding Cliff in death were his father Wayne in 1982;
his mother Louise in 2004; and a sister, Jean Louise at
infancy.
