Raymond A Whitehead, 77 of New Market died Friday evening, December 6, at Goldenrod Manor where he had been a patient for the past two weeks.

He was born August 17, 1914 in Page County, the son of James Loury and Gertrude Cunning Whitehead. On December 31, 1940 he was married to Marie Pullen who preceded him in death March 4, 1985.

Mr. Whitehead was a farmer and retired into New Market. Survivors include three daughters, Mrs. Garry (Judy) Stamps, New Market; Mrs. Carroll (Jan) Stamps, Gravity; and Mrs. Lanny (Joyce) Orr, New Market. There are nine grandchildren and three great-grandchildren. Sisters are Mrs. Weldon (Cleta) Jones and Mrs. Floyd (Cleva) Jobe both of New Market.

He was preceded in death by parents, wife, one brother and one great-granddaughter.

Funeral services were held this Monday, December 9 at Walker-Merrick Funeral Home with Gary Patterson officiating. Burial was in Memory Cemetery at New Market.
