Glassgow, Charles A. 1843 - 1937, Co A 4th Ia Cav (ss Mary): #404 on veteran's list - Charles Andrew Glassgow, died Dec 5, 1937: obit - Charles Andres Glassgow was born at Cadis, Harrison county, Ohio, Apr 25, 1843 and died Dec 5, 1837 in Dallas twp, Taylor co, Iowa. He was the son of William C. who moved from Ohio to Illinois at an early date and then settled on a farm in Dallas twp in 1857. He was the youngest of nine children. He married Mary E. McAlpin Mar 21, 1867. He served in the war in Co A 4th Ia Cav. He served as a guard on the train which carried Jefferson Davis as prisoner from Washington, Ga to Macon, Ga. -6

Glassgow, Mary B., 1864-1937 (ss Marion R.): obit - Mary Belle Hunter, daughter of Jiles and Virginia Hunter, was born near Danville, Iowa, Oct 16, 1873 and died Feb 22, 1937 at Omaha, Nebr. She was married to Marion Robert Glassgow Jan 14, 1892 and to them were born five children. They were married at Bedford, Iowa. Their five children are: Opal Belle, died in infancy, Allie of Wichita, Kans; Essie of New Market; Edward of Lead, SD; and Ray Glassgow of New Market. She is also survived by eight grandchildren and 4 brothers. -6

She was married Jan 21 1891 at the same home in which she was born to Franklin Allen Glassgow who died in 1918. There were six children born to them, Jessie A. Lohr of Portland, Or, Charles F. of San Mareo, Ca, Hazel G. Byrd of Sausalito, Calif, Wesley J. of Mill Valley, Calif, Willis A. of Cedar Rapids, Iowa. Mrs Glassgow died at San Leandro, Calif. Services were held 25 of Aug. Members of the Eastern Star, Royal Neighbors, American Legion Auxiliery, and the History Club. -6
