Mrs. Mary Novak Dies Following Short Illness

Mrs. Mary Novak, 85 a long time resident of the Fort Dodge community, died at Mercy Hospital Saturday morning following a short illness. She had been making her home at Ellen's Nursing Home for the past year and a half. On Thursday she suffered a stroke and was taken to Mercy Hospital by ambulance where her condition was critical from the start. Funeral Services will be held Tuesday Morning at 8:30 at the Laufersweiler Funeral Home and at 9 o'clock at Corpus Christi Church. Burial will be in Corpus Christi Cemetery. Friends may call at the funeral home any time after 3 o'clock Sunday afternoon. Rosary services will be held Sunday and Monday evenings at 8 o'clock at the funeral home.

Mrs. Novak was the former Mary Kuboushek. She was born Sept. 4,, 1875, at Chelsea, Iowa,, the daughter of the late Mr. and Mrs. Vinculo Kuboushek, pioneer settlers of that community. She attended the schools of the Chelsea community. In 1894 she was united in marriage too Joseph Novak and they established their home on a farm northwest of Fort dodge. They continued to make their home there until 1919 when they retired and moved to Fort Dodge. She was preceded in death by her husband, April 4, 1955 and one brother.

Survivors include two brothers and one sister, Frank Kuboushek of Minneapolis, Albert of Calmer, Iowa and Mrs. Adolph Uher of Spillville, Iowa. Mrs. Novak was a member of Corpus Christi Church.
