Alton Democrat of June 4, 1904

From the report of the school superintendent of the public schools for
the past year we are permitted to take the following data : Number of boys
attending during the year were ninety two, girls eighty six, and the pupils
neither absent nor tardy were:

Misses Dina Houwers, Florence Lincoln,  Dena Klien Beck man and
Clara Kellar. The number of visits from the board were fourteen and
from the patrons thirty eight and to the patrons  thirty two. Cases of corporal
punishment were sixteen in number. It is expected that next year the recitation
periods in the high school will be of forty minutes duration instead of
twenty-five as heretofore.
